Gerald Robinson from MLK is probably the best playmaker in the district and Josh Slater from Lipscomb can light it up two. These are probably the top two legit players

They meet again tonight at Lipscomb. The last meeting started close but MLK pulled it away towards the end. Josh is a pure shooter. Watching Gerald play is like taking a shot of adrenaline. Should be a good match up tonight.

This was a great game between two fine teams. Lipscomb played much better this time ..much better defense, rebounding , and scoring. It was a big team win in a very tight district. The district tournament should be very interesting.

yea, both those guys are good players, ive played vs. both, the key to gaurdin them is playin man to man on them, they will both light u up in a zone. Have yall seen peter caroll form CPA play? you canty stop him from driving in.

I've seen him play. He scored 14 in the first meeting with MLK. If he had some help they could do something. We play them again on the 17th.

What happened in the Lipscomb-MLK game?

I did not make the game but I heard MLK was "out-defensed" by Lipscomb. Of course, Josh did his thing. Beat at our own type of game (smile). That hurts to say from a royal fan, but give credit where credit is due. Only consolation is they got beat yesterday by Goodpasture in 4 or 5 overtimes (wow).

We will have to get sharper for the tournaments.

Hats off to DLHS for a well played game. Robinson fouled out with about 5 min. left to go in the game. Foul trouble has pleagued him in the games I have been to, The kid is the best all around player in the district hands down. If you go just by shooting, you could prolly toss it up with Josh Slater, but as far as speed, defense, rebounding, and team leadership is concerned, Gerald is your man. This tight distrcit race will go down to the wire.

Where is the district tourney this year? Anyone know?

BIG BEN

Goodpasture can thank MLK for the 5 overtime win on Saturday nght. The game Friday with MLK was very intense and took alot out of DL players.... the legs just gave out ... better get in shape for the tournaments.

Foul trouble is because he is out of control from time to time. He does have Slater in the speed catagory but I just dont see the others. I also have to wonder if he is MLK's best defender. They are slow to put him on Slater both games I've seen. May be afraid he will pick up fouls there also. No dought Robinson is a good player just a different type of player than Slater. More of a slasher. I think that Hume Fogg is the host at old TPS grounds off Foster Ave.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
