I hate to say that we would of won the game had Bobby been in the goal but he sure would of helped alot. He's more aggressive and we (defenders) know that we can rely on him when we screw up. Are backup keeper didnt do bad for his first ever start at a real Varsity game. Referring to a previous post..I also was impressed with the Owls after the game, they showed good sportsmanship afterwards.

 

I have been to state the past 3 years and never got past the first round, now that I've graduated it's all over Owls, you better go there and win one for us!

wow, two comments on ooltewah's good sportsmanship; I guess curtis has really started building a class program there. Africanowl I said "like 92'" 93 is close enough lol. Cant wait till state, looks like ooltewah got a good matchup first round. Im already in Nashville for the USA game so Murf is only a few miles away.

It seems that nobody understands what McMinn was doing in that situation...contrary to what you Ooltewah fans believe, Earls wasn't taking him out because he did a bad job, he was taking him out so he could get an extra attacker, he inserted Jon Winfield into goal so he could use him as a "sweeper-keeper". I also understand McMinn had been practicing that in case they got in that situation..I also don't understand why you praise Bobby Smith so much, don't get me wrong he is a great keeper and did a great job that night, but he made a fool of his coach and his team by making a scene of nothing..

 

I think that stating that Bobby made a fool out of his coach and his team is a little strong. Maybe, he thought that he was being taken out of the game because he did something wrong. It was in the second overtime period and emotions were running very high. To say that he overreacted would be more suitable. He is not psychic. It is a done deal and it cost him a spot in substate play. Let it drop.

Ooltewah 3 Cookeville 0. Owls looked better in pretty much all aspects of the game. Goals by Lowe, Bajic, Spence. One nice PK stop by the Bus. Owls State Bound first time since like 92' Good Job guys!

 

well you know it is kinda easier to stop a pk when ur out to the six before the guy shoots and ref that doesnt see, isnt it??

haha he did the same thing back to Cookeville that the Cookeville goalie did in 02' to keep ooltewah from going to state. I have always wondered this stat: Number of PK's taken...Number of times goalie jumps foreward illegally....number of times ref actually calls a re-kick because of it.

I'm pretty sure Cookeville was already ahead at that point anyways (in the '02 game).

A little strong? You must be kidding...he made an absoloute fool of him by yelling at him and telling him he was done, if i remember correctly the ooltewah fans booed him for yelling at Bobby...here's a better question, would anybody be talking about Bobby had he not gone on this tirade?

even if that is the case, im pretty sure 1 goal wouldnt have mattered a whole lot in a 3-0 game, was still a good game by cookeville despite the 12 men on the field and the sub-par officiating
