He'll have the same problem as the last coach, no teaching slots to bring in any assistants. Tellico only had two paid assistants last year. Also, it's hard to get anyone to come to Monroe County as their supplements are some of lowest in state. I think head coach in Monroe County only gets $3000. How old is the new head coach? What kind of experience does he have as a coach and a player? What does he teach? What teaching slots are going to be open for any additional assistants?

I've been told he is special education teacher. Job posting said they had openings in special ed. and building trades. I guess he may have a chance to bring in a coach that is certified in building trades- if he can find one. I think the guy is young, but other than that I don't know much about him. I wonder what kind of offense and defense he's going to run. Is he considered an offensive minded coach or defensive minded coach? Do they have the athletes to compete for a playoff spot in this region? Can the new coach get any players out that haven't played in the past? Are their any athletes walking the halls that could help the team?

Coach has been hired. Not released to the press or anything yet, but he is from Alabama.

 

His name is Lanny Jones. Other than that I can't tell ya to much.

Good luck to the new coach. You will need it with all of the politics in Monroe County from what I hear. The SQHS coach seems to be hangin in there and doing a pretty good job in the off season. Hope you have the same good luck on getting players to commit to the program.

Things have changed in Tellico since last week. Due to family concerns which I will not say what they are. Just give him prayers about his father and father-in-law.

 

Coach Jones has given up the job up at Tellico, due to family illnesses.

 

This in my opinion shows a lot about his character about not wanting to move that far away from his family.

 

We wish Coach Jones a bright future as well as his family a speedy recovery.
