More than 1,500 high school basketball fans showed up last night for a Seventh Region Tournament final that was never played.

The Jeffersontown and Ballard teams and their backers arrived at Louisville Gardens only to find out the 7 o'clock game had been delayed and eventually postponed because of a temporary injunction that referee Vic Montgomery was granted in Jefferson County Circuit Court.

The incident started Friday night in the Gardens. During halftime of the DeSales-Western game, Montgomery, who was working the game, and Darrell Bailey, who was scheduled to work the evening's final game, got involved in a verbal exchange that started in the officials' locker room and carried into the arena.

Both were escorted from the building. Montgomery was replaced for the second half of the DeSales-Western game, and Bailey was replaced in the Doss-Pleasure Ridge Park game.

That's kind of pathetic, every one has differences and there are people I don't like at work but I still get the job done.

this is my first year coaching in Kentucky, this is not much of a shock...the officials up here are..I do not know how to explain it....they enforce what rules they want..it changes from night to night as to what will be called and enforced..I have never missed Tennessee offcials so much..i took my JV team down to play in Tennessee and all the fans and the other coaches said they would love to have officials that actually called the game somewhat correctly....

and some officials, not all, think the fans come to see them officiate...it was like that in Tennessee but it is worse in Kentucky
