Josh Parker made his first start last night after coming off his injury from a year ago. He answered many questions people had about how he would come back after the injury. He was lights out. He struck-out 11 in 5 innings of work and give up 1 dinker. He walked no one. Josh is only a Junior and should be looked at pretty hard.

Parker did throw very well last night. The thing that made the biggest difference in his pitching wasn't his curveball though. What makes him dangerous is that he can locate his fastball wherever he wants to. I thought that the 2nd pitcher's curve was better than Parker's, but his fastball wasn't anything like Parker's. Parker started off very strong striking out 2 of the first 3 hitters he faced, but as the game wore on he was showing signs of fatigue. About the 3rd or 4th inning he was losing some of his stuff but he still managed to get out of it easily. He gave up 2 hits (maybe 3 if you count that fly ball that was hit a mile in the air that dropped between the 1B, 2B and P. One was a line shot between the first and second baseman and the others were infield singles that could have been called errors. Northside had a well deserved win yesterday and should continue to do well this season. It was a very entertaining game. Good luck to both teams.

The score was 6-5 North Side. Parker had struck out 12 in 6 2/3 and was throwing a shut out. He had 2 outs in the 7th with nobody on and gave up a couple of hits and a run and umpire started squeezing him. Well to make a long story short, Ripley made an unbelievable come back by getting seven hits in a row to tie the game. Parker left with the game tied and got a no decision. Before that string of hits he had given up two hits. A dinker to right and a drag bunt. He pitched great but you could tell he didnt have great command like the other night. He worked behind in the count all night. The irony of the story is that he got the game winning hit in the eighth.
