Powell has started out hot already 2-0 in district. They beat Clinton 6-4, and then beat a very good Halls team 8-6 thats was so suprising, noone gave them a chance in the world to beat them (including myself a former player at powell) they have also beat Fulton. Corgats Panthers keep playin! How does everyone think they will end up this season?

I believe it all depends on how the young, and I mean young, lefthanded starting pitchers hold up as the season progresses. Green and Hobby have pitched very well so far, but they are freshmen. Their ability to sustain consistency throughout the season is yet to be seen.

One thing is for sure - this team will finish better than last year, considering that Powell is already 3-0 and they were 2-23 a year ago.

Jeff Inman has done a geat job in convincing this team that they can win, and win now. For somebody who has been away from the game as long as he has, Inman has already proved himself as a good baseball coach and he has already earned every dime he's being paid this year.

Powell has come off to a very good start, wether or not they can keep the ship going in the right direction or not is the Q. I know when they beat us we were getting alot of good pitches and getting out front and just drove it into the ground. Halls took a bad approach to the plate, as a team. Kudos to Powell and cant wait to come to there place.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
