rebelsoccer2006
field size is also a part of home field advantage.
VolunteerGeneral
What is the actual size of a high school field suppose to be? Is it the same for girls?
Svebakken
The length can be from 100 to 120 and the width can be from 55 to 80. That is a very broad range, but that is what the rules are...
turtleboy
USN's fields need to be looked at... they have 3 fields and during their tournament ALL of them might not even be 100 yards!! I counted one of them at 95 yards by 55 yards!! Crazy! The keepers could punt the ball from one 18 box to the other 18 box! It changes the way teams play... I wish there was a standard (minimum that was inforced) because could you imagine if football games were different from field to field? Or baseball's 1st, 2nd, 3rd, base were various lengths? ah20
Yes, there needs to be a detailed standard for field size across the state or even the world, but I doubt there will ever be one. The state does not have enough soccer-only fields, nor the money to build more, and will probably leave the field situation alone.
jsills
The one at Haywood is actually the outfield of a baseball field at an elementary school after we were kicked out of the football stadium several years ago...however I think there are talks of purchasing more land for an appropriate field. Those seem to come and go every year though. I think Madison plays on the old JCM fields off Hollywood if I'm not mistaken? Isn't that just an old football practice field too? Lion10L
Lion101 I am on Farragut. And i was not talking smack or bragging or trying to antagonize Science Hill. I simply stated that i think we should pull it off. We have been playing great soccer. All of the hard work this season has finally come together. Sorry for the confusion about bragging or talking smack.
soccerman06
I agree there should be a set field size because u get use to a regulation size field. Then u go play some where else and their fields are so small. It makes it hard for the teams to adjust. When a team is used to playing width and they cant because the field is way to narrow it stinks.
Law-Five
The width shall not be more than 80 yards [73.15m] nor less than 65 yards [59.44m] and the length shall not be more than 120 yards [109.73m] nor less than 110 yards [100.58m]; however, fields of less than minimal dimensions may be used by prior written mutual consent of the competing institutions. The optimum size is 75 yards [68.58m] by 120 yards [109.73m]. New facilities shall be a minimum of 70 yards [64.01m] in width by 115 yards [105.15m] in length. The Coffee County field can't be 80 yards. I'm guessing 70 x 40. It is not even close to regulation.
