She is definately a warrior.....no pun intended........obviously her arm has held up great...

Thank You and I'm sure she knows she deserved it and along with alot of other people but hey there's nothing we can do....Her arm is doing great and I have said all year that we will go as far as her arm will carry us....

Can't argue with either one of those.......but didn't Gilbert pitch EVERY inning ??

They also left Laura Brock of East Ridge off the team. Tenth highest average in the city (check the paper 5-12). Best lead off batter in the city ( on base average in her high school career so far around .650). The best defensive player in the area and being recuited by SEC softball teams. But she isn't good enough for the 6aa all district team. Not putting her and the Bledsoe pitcher on the all district team makes these awards totally worthless. If you can't give awards to the people who deserve them you should not give them at all. I know for a fact that the head caoches have a tremendous amount of leverage on who from their team gets awards and who did not. In most cases the head coach picks the players. The Bledsoe coach had only 2 choices because of their district record and where they finished. The higher in the standings you finish the more choices you get. East Ridge had 4 choices. The East Ridge head coach screwed one of the best players in the tri-state area.

While I'm preaching I will point out that the carwash episode is the 2nd time in 3 years I have seen a softball team underestimate their opponents and lose to teams they should have defeated easily. Bledsoe and East Ridge are good teams but their rosters cannot be compared to Hixson. Also playing on a large field was a disadvantage to Hixson. Balls that were homeruns on a small field were outs on a big field. Brock will catch it if its in the air and not a line drive. Look at the the last out in the Championship game. May have been the best shot of the tournament but just a long out.

Did anyone notice how fast the big crowd of Boyd Buchanan players, parents, fans and coaches headed for their cars as soon as the last out of the Bledsoe-Hixson game. They are thanking the softball gods they don't have to face Hixson in the first game of the region.

Good luck to all.

WOW didn't know she was off the team.....The ball that the Porschia girl hit in one of the innings that she got a triple out of, would've been a home run on a regular softball field.....But you can thank all the Chattanooga coaches for wanting to play the tournament at Warner Park every year....The Valley coaches wanted it to alternate like it was but they all pitched a fit and got it there way and now they probably wish it was otherwise.....

One other question for Hixson fans.....Why did she not start Dawon or at least bring her in later in the game to pitch....

She pitched the the end of the ER-Hixson match and I thought she wasn't as sharp as she was the night before. Baker picked up where she left off and and pitched one of the best high school games I saw this year (60+-). It is difficult to play a game over 2 days and be consistantly good both days. There wasn't any drop off in her pitching.

Were you talking about Porchia's hit against ER. It would have been an inside the park home run against most teams on Hargraves. Brock was on the ball so fast she was easily thrown out at third on a gap shot to right center. That was the game winner for ER. She would have been on 3rd with 0 or 1 outs and should have scored. That game would have been over in 7 innings.

But what do I know, I have been coaching 20+ years.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
