Troy Kemp, McCallie

Troy Kemp hasn't done anything amazing. Adam Little brought a D2 team into D1 and now is one of the favorite to win state AGAIN! Hirsh must have some steroids in his pocket that he gives his team at halftime. Franklin is a great second half team.

Oh yeah, i forgot stopping the game with two minutes left to get a stick check, and then storming on the field yelling and cussing at the refs (having your players calm you down), and throwing yourt stick across the track is most definitely coach of the year material... The ravenwood coaches have no control over themselves.

So one mistake cancels out many big victories in a TOUGH, TOUGH division?

Actually, it was several mistakes:

1) The bush league stick check

2) Yelling and screaming at the refs

3) Throwing a stick!!

Just don't see coaches at quality programs (McCallie, MUS, MBA, etc) conducting themselves like that. Might need another year in the big league to learn sportsmanship.

well first off, i definitely dont think the coach from franklin should get it for D2, because when we played them, he complained at our managers when they were doing the clock, when we were playing them at their field so they should have been responsible for that. I think that the ravenwood coach has done really well with taking a d2 team to d1 and doing so well, but i think the coach of the year should have better conduct, even though he may have only messed up a few times. schools like mcallie, mba, mus, webb, usn, all have coaches with great conduct, and i probably left a few out. i think if mccallie wins state again, troy kemp will and should get coach of the year.

Time clock has nothing to do with the coaching. If the time was not correct I am sure any coach whether its home or away would say something. Franklin became a power this year, won their conference, and now is favored to win state, and last year, they won maybe 2 games, not sure how they got into to the playoffs, but now they are consistant, well behaved, good sports, and play well as a team togther. Now compared to last years team, who was unorganized, dirty, and and lacked decipline. I think that alone should give Hirsch that award.

As for Adam Little, he has coached that team since the senior class was in middle school, and made a team from a high school that had NO SENIORS at one time. I remember when Raven was a nothing team and everyone ran over them, and in two years, that team has won a state championship in D2, and now about to be a very strong contestant in a D1 championship in just their first season. Now, if you as a player, coach, ref, fam, etc have never lost your cool in the game of Lacrosse, maybe you haven't put your heart into it enough, because it happens to the best of us.

I understand what he has done, and i am most definitely not saying that he is a bad coach. But there is a difference between putting your heart into the game and acting the way he has this season. I know for a fact that all the coahes in the league, D1 and D2, have always had a strong heart for the game, otherwise they wouldnt coach. I think he is a great coach and he really has accomplished alot this season, but you cant give the coach of the year award to someone who breaks down that easily. Let me remind you, his PLAYERS were calming HIM down and taking HIM off of the field, with any respectable coach it should be the opposite.

I understand that the man made a mistake, and that that mistake was unsportsmanlike in every way. I am just concentrating on what he has accomplished. mba, mus, mcallie, cbhs. They have always had strong teams. Can you even imagine coming into that division and coming out as close to the top as they are???

I personally think Adam Little has done a whale of a job over at Ravenwood. I have seen Coach Kemp, Coach Dent, and even Coach Bloom lose it for a minute here or there. It happens to every coach, don't kid yourself into thinking otherwise. I'm sure if he could do it over again, he might tone it down a little but either way I don't see one minute worth of conduct factoring into the decision at all. I also think the coach at Houston needs to be commended for putting together a much improved squad. You also have a hard time arguing against John Harvey in his first year as a varsity coach at MBA. One good thing that is apparent is the obvious improvement in coaching across the board that has led to a much improved and much more balanced level of play in TN.

    • What we have here is an influx of outsiders raining down on the town of Maryville like a swarm of locust trying to change our culture into the same crap they moved away from. I have no issues with anyone coming here but don't bring your politics with you. Most people around here never pay attention to the elections and keep letting the same ole rats and vermin right back in the back door and wonder why things are like they are. The problem at Maryville High is mainly due to letting outsiders get a foothold on control and shove their agenda down everyone's throat. Anyone that leaves there or let's say ranoff are replaced with an outsider with the same mindset. Eventually Maryville High will never be the same as it once was which I'm beginning to believe already but it's only chance of survival are to recruit people that will get in there and reverse the damage that has already happened.
