THE SQUAD
He is listed #2 on the depth chart. In Saturday's scrimmage, he qb the the second team and was 13/71 for 231 yds. Don't know what Sweeney did with the first team as they were concentrating on the running game and not throwing much. 13/71?? Boy,not a great percentage but what the heck... If he's up to #2 already then great. He must have had a GREAT week.I know he's got the talent. I'm looking forward to the opener Aug.31 vs. UTC in Cookeville (Thursday night game). I think we'll be better.... THE SQUAD
flngrvy
Only two of the four quarterbacks are healthy and the fifth moved to defense. Yes, Sweeney had limited opportunities as the one's going against the one's the coaches were concentrating on trying to run the ball with limited success. Do you have any details? It hasn't been reported,in the Herald at least. I talked to John Conrad about 2 weeks ago,he must have had something happen since then. About the running game(or the lack thereof) That's a little bit suprising to me. Supposed to have 3 talented tailbacks in Ash,White & Kirnes I figured that'd be a strong point. flngrvy
Yes, the two hurt QB's are Xanders and McCrary. One has a shoulder problem and not sure about the other. The running game stunk. It's going to be difficult to be a threat to throw unless you can keep folks honest with the run, (Think I just stated the obvious, you are allowed to say "duh"). On the other hand, at this point in camp the defense may know what's coming with the offense using that "check with me" system for play signals from Swallows. The last scrimmage is tomorrow night at 7:45 under the lights in the stadium. Hopefully there will be improvement in the running game and Sweeney at least gets a shot at going vertical. THE SQUAD Hey Squad, is Zach going there to play for his Dad, or did he go another direction? I've been off of here for a while, and I hadn't heard anything. As far as Coach Hennigan goes, I wish him well in his treatment/recovery! I have suffered from chronic back pain for several years and finally had to give in and have surgery last Dec. once football season was over. It's still not great, but it is definitely much better than it was.

I can't remember if he signed a scholarship or will walk on(I think a walk on) I thought football was his better sport but he obviously has a love for the hardwood.I wish him well. On another note, the great Tyler Wolf isn't playing anything in college that I've been able to find out. That's kind of a shame, two all state football players who neither one will play college football. But I guess that's just the selfish part of me wanting these CAVS to move on.They're both great guys & I'm sure will be very successful in whatever they choose to do. THE SQUAD
Also to add to the TECH link flngrvy posted...It was reported in the Herald-Citizen today that Lee Sweeney was officially named the starting QB after last night's scrimmage. No big suprise... **flngrvy, your Herald-Citizen link didn't work for me... THE SQUAD Edited August 24, 2006 by THE SQUAD

THE SQUAD Thanks man! I hadn't heard, of course I've been so busy up here, I haven't had a chance to think of anything else but my 2 teams. Then, 2 weeks ago, in the 3rd 2 a day practice of the season for another local high school, one of their jr. starting o-linemen went down to the heat/possible other health problems, was in a coma for 4 days, and passed away! He was a kid that I had coached several years ago in youth ball on top of that. It's been a really rough time up here. All 5 of the high schools in the county cancelled practice last Friday, and we all attended his memorial sevice at his high school. Everyone please remember his family and team in their prayers! This family also lost another son a few years back to cancer.
