Here is an idea...why don't we include every underclassman across the state. That way it will be "fair" and won't hurt anyone's feelings. If you never have an end to the list then how can it be a list of "top" players when there is no bottom! Just a thought

Given that we have over 225 schools, if you figure an average of 20 girls per team (may seem high, but many schools have JV teams, etc), you have 4500 total girls. Freshman and Sophmores, say they are 50% (it might be more with JV included), that leaves 2250.

 

At this point, I've listed about 100 girls, or 4% of the total potential.

 

Given that the topic is about Freshman and Sophmores to look for, showing 4% doesn't seem excessive.

Including every high school soccer player on a list of top players serves no purpose. There would be no reason for a list of top players if anyone and everyone is included- then it would be called a roster and serve no purpose in highlighting the achievements and accomplishments of noticed athletes.

 

As for JV, there are several high schools fortunate enough to have enough talent to field very competitive varsity and JV teams. And many of these JV teams consist of top division 1 players and ODP players who will patiently wait their turn while the upperclassmen get their time to shine.
