Interesting scenario. Since Halls has LC between now and the Maryville game, can we talk about Halls v. Maryville??? Or are we limited to LC? HMMMMM.

You can talk about anything you choose to talk about but this Maryville fan and our team will be thinking about Halls. A win over Halls will give Maryville the region 3-4A title and that is a team goal. If Halls fans want to look past Lenoir City and talk about Maryville then let's get with it.

OK, so that's one reason -- "because you just don't look that far ahead."

But why?

As I said in the first post, I certainly understand why the team shouldn't look past the next game. What I don't see is why that should apply to fans.

I can think of one good reason not to have such a discussion on a public board -- that players might view the posts and start looking ahead. But that reason is just a variation or corrollary of the previous one. Maybe that's enough, maybe not.

So I'm back to the question: What reason is there not to talk about the playoffs?

powell fan you kill me. halls coaches arent good. thats an amazing comment. look at halls players compared to powell players over the last couple of years. how many d1 players has powell had and done nothing with. how many players has halls had that can barely walk and chew gum and compete with or beat powell. oh and what about the the choice to throw the ball at the end of the game for powell. all they had to do was stay with the lead with huffaker and run the clock out instead they get cocky and throw it and put halls in the game. powell didnt deserve to win that game. look at powell players compared to halls and its disgusting at how underachieving powell is.

We'll not look past LC. My point was about CoachT policy, which is what DCM was referring to.

As for Powellfan, I had begun to think you were rational. You have sadly disappointed me. At the least, you know not of what you speak. Halls has a new, second year coach. For Halls to play Powell the way we did with essentially a glorified JV team speaks volumes about how much better Halls' coaching is now. The reasons Halls has been down from years past is attributable to many, many factors, not the least of which is the head coach who preceded Coach J. So many very good players, including Maryville's D1 QB prospect, have left the program in part because of that coach it's a travesty. I could go on and on, but things have changed now.

Too many players running their mouths???? Who? The bush Powell players are the ones you should be concerned about. And you should be concerned about the next 5 years for Powell, which are going to be mighty lean. Rebel9 will be on here asking the question about you then.

Yes, Halls squandered many chances, and should have beaten Powell, and you know it.

I know Powell's coaching is horrible, I said it 6 months ago when they named coach lowe the head coach I wasnt happy. I still think it was a terrible decision. Even if they won a state championship I sitll dont think he should have got it. But thats neither here nor there.

When I was refering to coaching, It wasnt the coach thereselves, ITs the play calling and the motivation. They had Powell beat sat. and they couldnt close the deal. They should have one that game and had every opurtunity to.

Thats the reason I said coaching. If you read what I said earlier today, Halls is going to be scary the next several years and I think they will be taking it to Powell for a few years to come.

Thanks have a good evening.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
