McMinn Central at Grundy

With Grundy on fall break this week they have the chance to correct a lot of mistakes if they want to. The turnovers and misques have killed the offense for weeks. The team can work out extra if they want this week. Extra snaps, handoffs, passes and catches could go a long way to fixing Grundy's troubles.

But it shouldn't be because the coaches command it. It shouldn't be because you're tired of the small crowds and the long faces on the fans. It should be because you the players want to. You should want to do everything you can to win the remain games. You should want to do everything you can to get ready for a more successful 2007.

It's all heart and desire guys. You can do it if you will give everything.

Blah. :D

The personnel changes since the East Ridge loss have made the difference for the Central Chargers - they're not the doormat they once were - and won't be if Coach Derrick has anything to do with it.

I am proud for Central. What do you mean personnel changes? Are you referring to players or coaches? If coaches, who has been moved?

Personnel changes concerning players. There was a shakeup with offense and defense - and the defensive philosophy has improved/changed for the better.

Well this one was closer for a while. Grundy led 14-10 at half. I think going in at half and warming up hurt Grundy when they came back out to the cold. Strange since Mountain boys are supposed to be used to the cold.

Seriously it was two different games from the first to the second half. Central turned up the heat in the second half and corrected their mistakes. Grundy had more misques in the second half and looked like the team who fell apart over the previous five weeks.

Congrats to Central. I've got a few pictures that will be loaded on my site soon in the Early Bird gallery. Couldn't shoot too much as it was too cold for the camera.

    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
