Valley Football is Way Down

There's an unbelieveable amount of bashing going on about the South Pittsburg loss last night. Silly to say the least. I don't think there really is that much difference between the Pirates and Temple and it was just probably a bad night for the Pirates. This loss will probably do a lot to help them come playoff time.

But the cold hard fact is that Sequatchie Valley football is way down this year. Grundy, Whitwell, Marion and Sequatchie are having tough/bad years. Bledsoe and South Pittsburg are the top of the Valley heap at the moment. That's nice if we were all still playing each other like back a blue moon ago. But we're not.

So when will the other teams rise back up?

As for Grundy it may be next year that they're more competitive since they're leaning hard on feshmen and sophomores this season. It could be one more year after that.

What about the rest of the valley? I'd love to see some actual informed info from true Tiger, Warrior, Yellow Jacket and Indian faithful.

Well I would like to say Sequatchie County should be back and competitve next season.

We have been hit hard in several areas low numbers in the upper classes, injuries. new HC etc..

The team was hit hard from the beginning of the year they only had 8 seniors to begin with and then there All-Area returning (rb/lb) got hurt (off the field) before fall practice started and then got into trouble and quit school (?I think he did get back into school somewhere else so at least he can maybe graduate?) the other senior All-Area returner (wr/cb) got hurt in the second game and has been out since was dressed for BB game so maybe he can play in the final two games. A Junior transfer from a Chatt. school was starting (c/de) but had a head injury/problem and has been out since the third game (I think) don't know if he will be able to play next year or not?

Sequatchie's roster looks like this now 7 seniors, 7 juniors, 19 soph. & 13 freshmen

At any given time on the field the 8 or 9 players could be all Sophmores and Freshmen especially on defense.

The Indians should return starters to 7 or 8 positions on both sides of the ball in '07

I think there could be a big turn around next season.

    • Sounds like y'all got a lot of bodies to choose from. We lost 2 really good seniors and have 4 from Junior High that has moved up. That will give us 12 starting summer camps. As you know we all have to stay healthy. Proud Alexander and Micah are going to play together at Bethel. They were really fun to watch at the All Star game in Murfreesboro. They have real good chemistry together on the floor.
    • Baxter will do what they most always do.....at a minimum produce at least 9 Ws and run into at least the 2nd round.....Booger actually enjoyed seein them in the Gold Ball contest last season.... Booger just sayin
