In no particular order:

Farragut -- tall and athletic

Halls -- senior heavy w/Cameron Sharpe and Zach Cantrell

Oak Ridge -- replacing three good starters (Domsic, Youkin and Coffey) w/ Dowdell and Stephens

Bearden -- replacing three good starters (White, Sibley and BJ)

Powell -- senior heavy w/ Chris Conner and Jason Seymore

Maryville -- athletic, used to winning

Austin East -- athletic always

Fulton -- athletic always w/ good defense

Farragut will be very strong. They are tall and athletic with good shooters and depth. My only question with them is lack of consistent point guard play.

Halls will be strong on the perimeter. Cantrell is a hard working but undersized post.

Oak Ridge will be strong. Great coaching with players who buy into the system. Dowdell may be the top player in the area. Josh Gregory will give them some added size.

Bearden will be loaded inside with Jenkins and Simpson but will the new perimeter players get it done?

Powell Lee Smith will be very hard to replace. The team went as he went. If McGaha doesn't play, they won't have a force inside. Can Conner carry them?

Maryville by the end of the year will probably be the strongest team in the area. HUGE inside with Douglas, good guard play with a new coach that does a great job.

AE is AE. Very athletic but replacing alot with the loss of Kite and Barrett.

Fulton will be led by Gallmon a sophmore. They will need a super job from Wright to be there.

Alcoa may go deeper in the tourney than any of these if the football guys all play BB. Coming off a state tourney appearance with most of the players back.

The first team that came to my mind was Alcoa. I don't know cause I am from Chatt, and I don't know much about Knox bball. I just know about them cause i have fam in Maryville and seeing Alcoa play.

Thats a first. I am from Chatt and I have heard of Fulton, and Austin East. AE is good year in and year out. They play the best two teams in Chatt every year(Howard and Brainerd). and they either win or split the series every year.

    • Who’s going to lead the pirates offense this year?
    • Pickett is good, may have a Mr. Football like season if he’s used correctly. One of the best teams Marion has fielded in a while. I think they go 12-1 and loose to ER.  ER has better players at almost every position. If they play discipline this year, they win soundly. If they don’t though…Marion could sneak away with it.
    • I’m betting the house on the Indians. Pickett and Co will be the only team to challenge the Indians in the East. Huntingdon can in the West. I think Brooks goes 15-0 and has the first perfect season and state championship in ER history.
    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
