Elizabethton's 2007 schedule

Yes, it would be wise to begin a local 3A conference. Elizabethton, Johnson County, Sullivan North, Unicoi & Greeneville could be the core. Maybe PF and a couple more could come in and it would make a great 3A conference. The time is now and it is needed by these teams to have a chance to go 'up the road' further. Travel for these would not be bad either. Hummmmm...........may just make too much sense. ;)

East is 3A also. The only 4A teams in the MLC are THS, SSHS, and SCHS.

Per TSSAA 2006 web site on enrollment/classification...............................

Sullivan East has 989 students anything above 920 constitutes 4A in Football. Central has 999 ,South 1056, Volunteer 1125, TH 1175, D Boone 1229 M West 1308 and Davy C 1398

Your numbers are a bit off. TSSAA has SEHS's numbers at 1062. I called SEHS and they along with their website report about 952. The threshold number is 984 for 4A. Go here: 2006-07 TSSAA Handbook; Classification Regulations for 2005-09 What the actual numbers are for 2006 would, I imagine be more accurate from SEHS however they might want to represent those numbers to suit them...for whatever reason. At any rate...they are close.

Cocke County and Betsy arent playing each other....

I'm guessing the playoff match-ups of the late 1990s and the renewing the regular season rivalries (against once-proud programs, now on the down side or rebuilding side) was a thought. Also connections with Steve McKinney at Cocke County may have been another thought.

But - with both programs on a down cycle at the moment, it would be a tough gate for each school, with their fans unlikely to make the 1-hour, 45-minute-plus drive...

Newport and Eliz are less than 1 hr and 30 mins. Prolly 1 hr and 15.

does it really matter who they play until changes are made the program will continue to go south.... and i dont see any changes being made anytime soon

i have a couple of cousins on the team, and saw 4 games this past season and until they get someone to light a fire under those boys and get leadership in the locker room then ol besty football program will go south.

    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
    • Now that wouldn’t surprise me a bit. That has been going on heavily since the days of Larry Kerr @ AC. One of the major reasons CC has never really had much at all, barring about 2 seasons in football. AC milks it dry.
