I also have to say Congratulations to both DB and Science Hill for a great season, but I must add that this thread is a perfect example of why DB fans get the rap that they do. DB no doubt finished on a strong note, but unfortunately for you your record reflects the entire regular season not just the end. Your record for that season is 10-3....the same as the Hilltoppers. So yes you ARE Co-Champions of the Big 9 conference...deal with it. The District tournament is in a way a new season and you Will have an opportunity to clarify your point, but for now can't you just give credit where credit is due. Science Hill played through the same competition as you did and have the same record as you do...so Co-Champions...you are, and that is what the record will always reflect for the 2006 Big 9 season.

If two teams finish with the same regular season record, and one of those sweeps the other, there should be NO co-champions regardless of what team it is. If the Colts and the Titans tied for the regular season lead in the division and the Colts swept the Titans, who would get the playoff spot? The Colts. I know this is a little different because both teams are in regardless, but the Colts would have been crowned Division Champions.

I agree that both teams finished with the same records, and I blame Morgan for that because DB should have gone through with only 1 loss, that being the home loss to Central because they just out-played and out-coached us. The other 2 losses were to a TERRIBLE South team, at home, and a not-so-good TN High team, at home, in which we scored ONLY 35 points. So, that is Morgan's fault for not having them ready to play. Either way, we SWEPT Science Hill and it was not even CLOSE, therefore I think the Indians earned the conference and Science Hill should have no part in it. To be the best, you have to beat the best.

Just because a few DB fans think the Indians should be named "outright" champions doesn't mean every DB fan thinks so. So no, this is not a "perfect example" of why DB gets the rap that they do. You look for reasons to jump on DB's case because you hate DB. Its that simple. Move on, its not a big deal.

Why must you continue to make the insane comment “you hate DB”? I DON"T HATE DB!! It’s just that some of its whacko supporters here on coacht (no pun intended…of course ) get under my skin with their egotistical posts. Like I’ve said many times before…I just simply call it like I see it…the good, the bad, and the vainglorious . It looks like from the posts of the DB faithful that have posted so far on this thread that DB doesn’t want to give the Hill credit for their half of the Big 9 championship. I tell you what....why don't you let the Toppers have credit for the first half and DB can have credit for the second half. That way you can still be co-champions and DB can get the credit for what they feel they have accomplished!

I didn’t respond because that’s your opinion and although I don’t agree with it, I do respect it. My take on your point of view is that…when the top two teams finish the season with the same record, regardless of who beat who it’s still a tie, and the result is co-champions. If there is a tie breaker necessary say for District tournament seating, then if one of the teams swept the other they would win the tiebreaker. Hey…what do ya know….that’s exactly what happened!!!! I will say that by one team sweeping the other; it speaks volumes as to who the better team is.

Bob, the only thing in your post that is correct is that South is terrible. You can't compare the NFL rules to the high school bball rules dude. The rules state that if two teams tie, they are co-champs. Nuff said! Also, get off Morgan's butt. He's a good coach and you should feel lucky to have him. Like I've said, send him our way!! His best player was hurt half the freakin year! If you wanna compare the Colts and D-B, how bout if the Colts went half the year without Manning?? I guess Dungy would be a bad coach because they would lose most of those games. Now, in closing, both D-B and SH have good teams. Represent District 1 and knock off Greeneville! I hope both advance to the state.

you can't even compare the rules of high school to college...in football or bball.

Like I have said...if DB takes care of South or TNHigh (or both) at home then this is a non-issue...personally I think it is a non-issue anyway because the ultimate goal is not to just win a conference championship because they got what they desired in a #1 seed in the tourney...and it all is for not if they don't take care of business on Monday night.

Not sure if you know this or not but, conference Champions and co-Champions get something for the trophy case...a little something to remember them by.
