Pigeon Forge will hopefully rebound from the loss of the coaching staff, Tyler Cannon, and 7 seniors from last years team. They somehow rebound from challenges perenially. They have a young team but talented at the same time.

Brandon Wilson the young catcher started almost everygame last year as a freshman and is one of the best in the state as a sophmore. Bradley Harveston should return as a dominant pitching force as he has been the past two years. The seniors will show leadership and hopefully continue the winning history at PF.

On the other hand in District 2-AA it seems to always be a battle between PF and Rutledge. Rutledge always has a good team and has alot of returning starters this year. It is always a battle for the District Championship between these two. This year should be no different. It should be fun.

The district this year should be a little more competitive than it has been in years past. Rutledge and PF have been at the top battling it out the past couple of years but there could be some new comers to join the party. Gatlinburg Pittman will most likely the most improved team in the district and should make some noise this year. Coach Lafollete has steered this program in the right direction and looks to build on the success of last season. Union County should be improved. Rumor has it that they have got a Gibbs transfer in the program who will be their ace. Cumberland Gap will be young but very talented. Coach Hamilton will have his squad ready. Claborne should be much improved this year as well. This being said the district winner will still have to go through Rutledge and PF. Pigeon Forge has some key spots to fill and one of them will be impossible. No one can replace what Tyler Cannon brought to the game. PF will be to deal with. I expect their young players to step up and follow Haverston and Wilson's lead. They will not only contended for the district but for their third consectuive state tournamtent apperance. Rutledge on the other hand returns the majority of it team that was a game away from the state tournament a year ago. This have some key spots to fill as well because the lost three exceptional players. All in all it should be a fun one to watch this year.

Coach Big dog may be right Pigeon Forge lsot 2 Cannon's not one and like 4or 5 others.Like the French kid,I think G-p Union and Cumberland Gap all have a shot at second,I think Rutledge will win though with the experience they have I think the have about 6 or 7 guys back I know they have Horsely,Starbird, and Dalton and that was their first 3 hitters last year and they had a very good year, so I expect much of the same this year.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
