In a battle of Nos. 1 & 3, Winesburgh (44-7) used the same winning move - a hip toss –

from the duals (on Withrow) and this time he pinned down at least a tie for the championship for his Trojan teammates … Fastest finals pin in six years … In 2001, Bradley’s Rusty Blackmon stopped Chis Seay (Clarksville) in 22 seconds in 189 pound final … Winesburgh beat a No. 2 (Ryan Konz, Franklin) and a No.1 (Withrow) to win … Had committed to UTC the night of the UTC-VMI match (Feb. 11) and five days later won the state … Withrow (34-6) is a two-time finalist … Soddy led by 18 points, 231 to 213 … and clinched a tie for the title …

 

 

Clarksville has never had a Chris Seay. Blackmon pinned Mark Chinetti (NW, 11) in 28 sec in 2001.

Probably because the TSSAA uses "Cville" as the short form for Cookeville--just looking at it, it could easily be that, Clarksville, or even Collierville.)

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!

      I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
