I do not have much to add here, it is impossible to really put into words. But I want to just throw two things out there that everyone should make a part of their day.

From Jim Valvano's speech at the ESPY awards less than a year before he passed away.

And when people say to me how do you get through life or each day, it's the same thing. To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day.

I just got one last thing, I urge all of you, all of you, to enjoy your life, the precious moments you have. To spend each day with some laughter and some thought, to get you're emotions going. To be enthusiastic every day and [as] Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Nothing great could be accomplished without enthusiasm" -- to keep your dreams alive in spite of problems whatever you have. The ability to be able to work hard for your dreams to come true, to become a reality.

I am the very fortunate father of two wonderful daughters. I can only imagine what Merissa's parents and family are going through. I pray for you every day. And of course for your daughters recovery.

I also hope that the rest of us can see that while life is too short to take for granted, it is also too long to live without taking the joy out of the little things.

God Bless, and Good Fortune.

Bill

Good one, Bill. Your post remindes me of my days at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where I played football with a guy from Georgia named Ledbetter. He and I were also in Boot Camp together. Once, during a game, I saw him crying, and asked what was the matter. He replied, "Nothing!" . . . .and then he added, "I know I'm a Marine, and I'm suppose to be tough, but I'm an emotional guy. I just have to be this way to play this game."

It is beyond us to fathom what this family is enduring. I pray for the best for this family during this incredibly emotional time.

Again, We can not express enough how much everyones prayers and thoughts mean to us right now. We have moved Merissa from Kingsport to the Childrens Hospital at Scottish Rite in Atlanta. She making some improvement, she is awake, and communicating with blinks of her eyes and nods of her head. Her Doctors and therapists are really optismistic. We don't know what the future holds but we are taking each bit of progress and focusing on that alone. She has made some really big steps since her move on Friday 3-02-07. I would ask for continued prayer for her recovery and for our family both immediate and extended. We could not have come this far with out Gods good grace and all of your prayers and support.

She is at the Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite

Again Thank You All and may God bless you all,

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
