Trust me. You can take the result of the play regardless of whether or not the batter reaches safely. We may be arguing over semantics but it is not cut and dry. The batter can make an out and if the play is more beneficial that way you can choose to let the play stand.

QUOTE(LAfan @ Mar 21 2007 - 02:42 PM) 826419473[/snapback]you are not out for stepping on the plate unless it is while u are striking the ball then it is 2U. Otherwise after you hit the ball you can jump up and down on the plate if you want it is just another base

Ok thanks. I think what happened is when the batter squared to bunt he had his left foot on the plate.

Columbiaguy is right. The offense would have their choice, but the umpire is going to award first base unless the offensive team coach says he doesn't want it. If memory serves me correctly, this is the only base award that the team interfered can actually decline the award.

To your original scoring question, from my scoring days, the batter is not penalized by the catcher's interference/obstruction. Batter receives no at bat, just as if he had a sacrifice, sacrifice fly or walk.

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
