QUOTE(GradfromtheNest @ Mar 21 2007 - 10:36 PM) 826419858[/snapback]The Owls go down to McMinn County tonight at the nest. I think it was 16-11?? The Cherokees hit well.

I don't think it was a case of anyone hitting well it was a case of the Owls defense couldn't play

dead in a cowboy movie. Second baseman had 4 errors in two inninngs. When you don't throw strikes

and you don't make routine plays you will not beat good or most bad teams.

Last night was the worst performance I have seen from an Ooltewah baseball team in the last 5 years.

Based on the team that is being put on the field right now I do not see them better than 500 this year.

They need to rethink thier stategy of living off the 3 run homer and learn to play a little small ball.

I'm not opposing anything you said...but McMinn did hit well. Granted, they hit when bases were juiced because of walks or errors...but still, Jeremy (on his better days) is one of the better pitchers in the area. McMinn had a couple long balls and I saw several solid hits.

The Owls will be fine. They need some confidence. More than anything though, they need some support from the fans in the stands. I'm not saying it's not ok to disagree, but some support would be nice. They'll be fine..it's way too early to be giving up on them.

I miss it too! Time is the biggest factor. I still have the domain name, but I need more time. Considering the cost of hosting it and the time I spend every day updating it, I lose money. If anyone's interested in helping out or helping find advertising, I'd reconsider doing it again. Please be clear, I'm not in it for the money. But spending 2 to 3 hours per day and still going in the hole isn't cutting it. Plus, I've been out of ball since 2002 and my brother got out last year, which hurts me when it comes to knowing about the players. I need some help with content! There's a bunch of NEW guys out there!

Its not as much the money as time. If I could do it in an hour a day I would. But we're talking staying up till 3AM when the Times Free Press publishes their newspaper online to get scores and stats. Around 3 hrs per day. And my point with the money was....as that and still in the red.

Anyways, back to the tournament. I wasn't able to catch any games tonight. Any scores?

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • Great to have Coach Peek back !
    • We feel the pain!
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
