8AAA District Tourney

Columbia won the District 8AAA tournament championship today, but did it the hard way. Tullahoma defeated Coffee Co 4-3 in 8 innings to make it to the finals, completing a suspended game from Friday nite. Then the Lady Cats defeated Columbia 8-1 in the first game and lost 3-2 in 9 innings in the second game. Tullahoma played 20 innings today and look tired at the end. Tullahoma goes to Riverdale Monday nite. Game time is 7pm. I think Columbia will host Lebanon Monday nite.

Great games girls!!!!(Both teams) Congrats to the Columbia Lady Lions in winning the District. Congrats also to Kayla Coles for winning MVP. Today was 20 innings of pure excitement for the Wildcat Fans. Way to come back and get 2nd Place Lady Cats. You all did a Great Job!!!! Keep up the great work!!! We believed in you /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":lol:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> and knew you could do it.

Everyone said that this would be an exciting end for 8AAA!!! Great job Lady Lions and Lady Wildcats. Great job Wildcats for holding on for 20 innings in a row. I heard Chelsey Jones pitched ALL 20 innings for the Wildcats and there were no sub outs for any other positions. Way to show everyone you could do it ladies. WOW!!

Good Luck to both teams at regionals. Go get 'em.

[Proverbial]

The unsung hero Saturday was Columbia's Morgan Penrod who pitched seven innings in the second championship game before giving way to number-one pitcher Spenser Andrews with the score tied 2-2. Miss Penrod really stepped up when her team needed her. Hats off to Lady Wildcat Chelsea Jones who battled 20 innings in the heat and was still battling at the end. Columbia won it fair and square. Tullahoma has every right to be proud, also.

 

By the way, the district pitcher of the year, Coffee County's Kasie Meeks, and the most valuable player, Columbia catcher Kayla Cole, will both be playing at Motlow next year.
