Region 5 Class 4A opinion thread

The Hole would have been a great venue for these two matchups. Maplewood's field is borderline awful imo. I believe both nashville schools will win with solid QB play. Pearl-Cohn's Mason could be a top 3 QB in the Mid-State. Maplewood's QB is very good at what he does with his lack of height. Two very physical games to start the season. Good luck to the Metro ball clubs.

Confirmed to me yesterday:

Both games are on a Saturday in Week 0!!! The Pearl Cohn-Memphis East game will be an afternoon game that will start somewhere around 3PM and one hour following the conclusion of this one the game between Maplewood-Wooddale will begin somewhere around 7PM. Both games will take place at Maplewood High.

Wooddale vs Maplewood is in week zero. It's part of some package deal that also includes the game between Pearl Cohn & Memphis East. I believe both games will be played on the Saturday Night of Week 0 (though word also has it that the Maplewood-Wooddale game will be on Friday & the Memphis East-PC game will be on Saturday).

Both games will take place at Maplewood though both were originally intended to be played at Hale Stadium (aka The Hole) at TSU. How that fell through I will never know to tell you the truth.

Quez, I am going to edit my predictions just to please you & boski (who I know will be back in a few weeks).

U shoulnd't change it 2 please me, U should change it because it's probably the craziest prediction I've seen in years...Stratford lost 2 much 2 even make the playoffs.I have family their and I can only pray for them.lol...

The Borros should not be challenged in the region if they come to play. Don't know how strong Maplewood, Stratford or WC will be. I'm sure they will be athletic and one or two could probably have a solid season.

Tull should be better than average and not to be taken lightly, LC will not be as good as last year and Shelby will be better.

Playoff spots will be filled with the same 5 programs.

T-Town may struggle

Perkins was an excellent football player for Stratford. I am guessing your brother is Cantrell for Maplewood since ya talk about him so much. Good Luck to you guys at Hunters Lane this upcoming season. The quarterfinals last year was a great accomplishment for Coach Campbell's Warriors!!!

What? Maryville totally embarrassed Hillsboro for the title last season and im sure if they meet again ..we would get the same results ..sure they got a ton of key players coming back .. but so do alot of these other teams, i see Maplewood giving them a good game and run at the region title just like before ... Hillsboro has impressed me a "lil" with the 7 on 7 mini games .. but im panther pride to the bone .. this year them panthers bring it home.

Good to see you back Boski but this is the year of the Burro's. It will be the green and gold who get to take the gold ball home.

    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
    • I’m not taking shots at the kid, but “athlete” is not something I would use to describe him. He was a long, lengthy, defensive back
    • Mistakes like that should never happen.
