From the Memphis newspaper this morning, it looks like Bartlett beat Germantown 3-2 in 8 innings to finalize the top 8 teams going to state this year.

I have to go with Soddy Daisy to win it this year. They are an athletic team that knows how to hit the ball and play defense. They have two impressive pitchers. They are also young and they know how to win with 40 wins on the season. I say they win it this year and next.

I beg to difer, Gretchen Prugh of Maryville is the woman of the hour and should be considered among if not the best jr pitchers in the state. Anyway, Maryville staff is the strongest I have seen a looong time, and there is not weak spot in the line up.

Obviously, any team that makes it to the state tournament has championship potential. The teams I believe to have the best chances are:

AAA - Soddy Daisy (consistency, been there before and knows how to get the job done).

AA - David Lipscomb (great coaching, great pitching, great hitting and great defense).

A - Forrest (plays with heart and talent).

Div II - Brentwood Academy (great pitching).

It ought to be a great tournament!

Any team that makes it to state has great defense and great offense. All the teams should be very proud of themselves. Here are my predictions:

AAA - Soddy Daisy (what a team!!)

AA - Hume Fogg (competitive--will come out on top this time)

A - Forrest

Good luck to all the teams

    • I have no issues with the Karns Middle School program.   Good coaches and he's with the kids he goes to school with.  He's a rising 6th grader who had to play with 6th grade kids last year because Karns didn't have enough kids for a 5th grade age team.  He's in a good place at this point.   My daughter is a single mom with 4 kids under 11 years old.  We help her out with logistics, so staying in our own area right now is important.  Once he gets to high school age, who knows what happens?  That bridge will be crossed when we get there.
    • I know he was a backup but I thought he filled in well when the starter went down. Never a bad thing to have a change of pace back
    • That would be a good get for them. Lowe always finds a way. Pretty sure they have their Rb from last year returning but not that line of beef
    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
