What level in college do you think? Anyone capable of D1? And yes I have heard they dont play and for two teams that traditionally are great programs to be so close and not play is terrible.

 

 

 

Could be some D1 prospects, but the MFC players (7 or 8 at Houston alone) are not pushed to D1. Simple fact these days is that there are D1 level players at schools at lower levels.

We push acedemics fit first, then soccer.

I have heard him say this ten times over the last two years, "Find a school that is a good fit first, then pick the soccer program."

 

Not sure what your experience is. Perhaps you will enlighten me.

 

Richard is demanding, as is playing soccer in college and performing in the classroom.

Richard's philosophy regarding academics is: you shouldn't miss his practice to study for a test or finish a project you have known about for three weeks. He does say find an academic fit first and then talk soccer.

 

As far as pushing for D1, his thoughts on that are: you might get into a D1 school but ride the bench for two years. Since D1 is the size of the school, does it really mean the soccer is better?

 

If a kid gets an education in the area he wants and get to play instead of riding pine, then that is most important.

 

His philosophy has worked for 17 years as the number of MFC players who have gone on to play in college and beyond attests.
