Matt Miller New Head Coach at Cully!

My wife was told today that Matt Miller will take over as head coach of the girl's basketball program at Cully this next year.

I told Coach Miller 2 years ago that he needed to be coaching girls because he is a teacher. That is, he still wants to teach the fundlementals. It is much harder, in my opinion, to get high school boys to listen and to want to learn the proper way to set a screen or to block out or to do the little things that win games. All boys want to do is to view the best dunks (not all but allot). Girl's in high school basketball appear to be more acceptable to learning new things than are boys. Being a teacher of fundlemental basketball, Coach Miller may have found his calling. Who knows? Just my opinion. But expect the Cully girls to start getting better.

Good luck to Coach Miller. I hope you get the chance to run your own team over at Cully. They have great fans and if you can show them that success is on the way, those crazy folks that scream for the boy's team over there will also support the girls.

If this is not true about Coach Miller taking over as Girl's head coach, then disregard this post. Ha ha.

GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow!. I hope it works out for him and he gets to settle down for a while.

The old coach at Cully seemed to yell allot but he had the girls playing with more fire and desire. I hope he does well. Cully has some talented girls over there. Shoot, you know all those basketball playing, high flying boys have sisters. They just play other sports. Get them on the court and motivated and they can start winning some games.

Plus, a 3 win season would be a success. If Miller could win 5 games, they would name a street after him!

They need to build them another barn to play in over there. It is not nice.

Girl's basketball is still made up of allot of haves and have nots. A pretty good coach could get to 500 ball pretty quickly.

I am not saying he went to Hampshire as I have no idea. I was asking a question. I don't know if the hampshire job was still open or if it was already filled. Need info from someone that knows. I was hoping coach Woods would take that position. Anyone???

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
