GoVols21
Can someone give me a rundown of the teams this year? Coalfield - What do they have returning after the loss of BD and all those skill players? Wartburg - Have they found a coach? Is he gonna be a difference? Do they have any playmakers? Sunbright - What are the expectations? Do they have a large turnout of players? Oakdale - Is Chip Strickland the real deal? Can he pump any life into this program? How many kids are buying in? Wartburg has a Coach, John Bangley. He is running the program and so far doing a good job. There is a good mix of older players returning, younger players from a couple of successful middle school programs who are growing up, and kids who are coming out for the first time. And all indications are that he will be a difference. I think that there will be a noticeable difference.

07footballfever
Well Sunbright obvoisly isn't expecting too much of themselves judging by there non-region scheadule. Sunbright schedule was already in place before the new coach was hired. They are scrimmaging York Institute, Bledsoe County and playing McCreary Co Ky in the jamboree. All 2A schools. Sounds like they are playing up a bit.

CYJacket
Coalfield this year brings the usual things one would expect of the Coalfield program. Speed, willingness to defend with big hits, strength, and an experienced coaching staff. Those ingredients make for a winning program and are proven. The losses last year on both sides of the ball are all just part of how things work. Those guys are to be missed, and assisted in thier new phase in life when needed. The remaining players realize the shoes are big, the target bigger, and are giving 110% to assure the tradition continues. The linebackers look tough, the line is anchored, and the backs can motor. Thanks finally a reply worth something. Do we have any names of players that should be expected to contribute or be playmakers?

And I know alot more than you do. TRUST me. So stand back and listen: No one gives a rats tush about who you SCRIMMAGE. WOW a few 2A schools. Single a teams around here scrimage 3 and 4A schools all the time. No big deal. And your non-region scheadule is as follows: Pickett County, Hancock County, Davis Brainard Christian, And Jellico... No 2A schools there. Heck, theres only one team the that has ever even competed in Region play, and thats region 1 doormat Jellico. DBC is in their 1st year off region play, Pickett in their 1st year of varsity play, and Hancock is is only in their 2nd year of existance... Weak, WEAK scheaduling. But it doesn't matter, cause the only region win you will get is Oakdale, and thats not a sure win either.
CYJacket
Thanks finally a reply worth something. Do we have any names of players that should be expected to contribute or be playmakers? Yeah, but I would miss some there are many. Here goes: Melton, Knight, Armes x2, Massengill, Duncan, Haynie, Tuff Huff, Alley, Wilson, Smith, Doughty. There are many more. These guys will contribute every time the team is on the field in some way. Whether it be smarts, speed, strength, or pure athletic ability. If they don't panic, play as a team, and remember their coaching, it will be another banner year. Rest on what last years team did, and they will be cellar dwellers and practicing basketball in November.
