Michael Vick

Recommended Posts

Time to jump ship-

Co-defendants Purnell Peace and Quanis Phillips are scheduled to appear in federal court in Richmond at the end of the week and are expected to accept their own plea agreements. Peace's hearing is at 9 a.m. (ET) on Thursday, while Phillips will appear on Friday at the same time. Plea agreements would clear them to testify against Vick.

This is the part that shows Vick (and his legal team) are not prepared for the deep end of the pool.

Collins R. Spencer III, a spokesman for Vick's defense team, said the lawyers were surprised by the plea deals.

"They didn't see it coming," Spencer said.

Three of the co-defendants have or will accept plea bargains. Vick and his team are being outflanked and are up against a wall.

It is becoming more and more clear that Michael Vick needs to also accept a plea bargain and take his punishment.

He does not need to go to trial, where it is also becoming more and more clear, he will get his clock cleaned.

I agree FTT. If he doesn't take a plea deal, he is done.

I heard Jason Whitlock yesterday on the radio, and he hit the proverbial nail on the head.

To paraphrase his statements, he openly asked the question, "What do we learn from the Vick case?"

In his mind (and I concur) that it is time for athletes, particularly black athletes, to wake up and grow up.

You are in a different place in life, and with the 100 million dollar contract, there comes some obligations to the employer, to the league, and to your team. You cannot do the things you used to do because you have far too much to lose.

Forget about "keeping it real."

What IS reality is that your friends from back home, if they want to roll with you, they need to do it YOUR way or not at all- you cannot roll THEIR way. They don't have near as much to lose. Part ways with those who have been in your past; those with loser morals and character. Do it your way or not all.

These thoughts from Whitlock, IMO, carry more cache' because of who he is. Nonetheless, they can't be seriously argued.

    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
