With Dobyns-Bennett now 2-3 can they win all of their remaining games and make it to the playoffs, if so how far do you think they can go

Good question. I think they can and they will. I believe Friday's game was a big confidence booster. The momentum should continue against Elizabethton on homecoming night too. I think they may win out with the possible exception of Science Hill who seems to be playing awfully well. Last year I think they peaked too early; this year seems like they may peak at the perfect time-the end of the season. Who knows if they get hot how far they could go, possibly even being overlooked by the higher-seeded schools.

Don't you think it is kinda early with that kinda question? We finally played with some heart in a ballgame to come back from 14 down and you are asking how far can they go.Let em jell for a while please! We don't need the distraction.

I think you're right on. They have to be hungry for a win like they seemed to be Friday and get rid of the fear of loosing jitters. I suspect the early problems had a lot to do with feeling like that had to win that one. But hey, 14 points behind in the 1st quarter and they quit being too conservative because they didn't have much to loose. They won their confidence back in that game. Now they know they can win against a good team. If they continue to keep the confidence and hunger to succeed, the should continue to win. Science Hill has to be their biggest obstacle. But the closest games vs Science Hill has been on SH's tuff. In recent years SH has had more problems at J. Fred than on the Hill. So I'm not too quick to say Science Hill has a better chance of winning.

Will DB maximize on what they discovered Friday night? If so, personally I think they have a decent chance of beating region 2 teams in playoffs and they will make it past round 1 this year - but not likely past round 3. I wouldn't be saying any of this if I hadn't seen a spark in the offense that I saw Friday night.

I thought we would have some problems early , but after the WB game,I knew we could play with anybody. You never know what will happen from week to week.We have the kind of team that can loose to anybody with the things we do wrong here and there. Here comes my deep down thoughts and my in your face DB haters .If we keep playing defense, keep building depth, and get better at the passing game each week.I think this team has the ability to play fifteen games this year and win the last five. That's not from a dad, but from a man that has seen three of the states top 5a teams struggle to score at all on this DB team. Now,any Db fan top that.If your not a DB fan,it doesn't really matter on a thread like this

Ya know, I've long suspected that you are a coach. That's kind of a coachy reaction. You're over reacting. It's a legitimate question for discussion. What do you want him to do, wait 5 more games to ask the question? There's been many other comments that could have had negative consequences on the team on other threads.

To the other poster that thinks they can go 15 games. That really is a dad response. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> In my dreams, I hope you're right though.

If you ask me the sky is the limit for these kids. They start off 1-3, Many fans lose faith in them, the kids start to hang there head when their school mates are telling them they are the worst DB team ever. With a little bit of support, confidence, coaching, and heart these kids can go as far as they want.

Plowboy2 and WacoJaco are right the boys need to put all ther focus on Elizabethton, this is a game they are expected to win, sometimes those are the hardest to get ready for. I know everyone wants these boys to succeed this season so let's not jump the gun and get caught thinking about Science Hill or the platoffs.

Good Luck Indians!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
