who picks the softball all state teams??? Is it a newspaper vote or coaches?

the only one i know of is by newspaper writers. it seems to always come out very late.

Its the newspapers mainly. The coaches send in two-three players from there team for midstate. Players who make all-state mainly come from teams that made it to the state tourny.

Who compiles for the mid-state team at the tennessean

I was told by Harold Huggins that the All-Midstate will be coming out next Wednesday in the Nashville paper. Not sure about All-State but it is always later.

Sometimes the All-State picks dont always have the teams that make it to state. Last year Lesley Martinez made it from Hume-Fogg and we didnt make it all the way last year. She was pick as a 1st team pitcher as a Soph.

Funman, I have told you all I could about midstate. I really am not sure on who does it at the Tennessean. For allstate, I would guess that all the papers come together. Im really not sure. Sorry I couldnt help

the all-state selection is coordinated by the state's sports writer's association. it is not affiliated with any particular paper. the all mid-state list you'll see in the tennessean is that particular paper's picks based on whatever criteria it chooses to use. hope this helps.

I just hope they are not afraid to select younger girls. There are alot of juniors and sophomores that deserved to be selected to the allstate team and should not be overlooked because of they are underclass girls. Alot of these girls are why they were at the state tournament or at that level. So please make sure you look at all the criteria before you chck your ballot.
