The Region Tournament is set:

5AA

1. McMinn Central

2. Sweetwater

3. Brainerd

4. Tellico Plains

6AA

1. Sequatchie Co.

2. Howard

3. Grundy Co.

4. Chattanooga Christian

The bracket looks like this.

McMinn Central will host Chattanooga Christian

Howard will host Brainerd

Sequatchie Co. will host Tellico Plains

Sweetwater will host Grundy Co.

...The 'home' teams will have the advantage...just like the sectionals...the only 6AA teams I have seen this year are Howard and Grundy...Sequatchie should win against Tellico...just beware of #4 and don't play zone...#10 will kill you with the 3's if you do...Sweetwater should beat Grundy...I wouldn't be surprised if Grundy pulled the upset...Central will beat CCS...Howard and Brainerd will be playing for the 4th time this year...Brainerd leads 2-1...I'll go with the Lady Panthers on Friday night!!!

...It should be some very good Regional Semi-Finals @ E. Ridge next week!!!

I am confident in the Lady Indians ability to play. I believe they can win against Tellico if they play the way they're supposed to... they have to move the ball and get open looks. Run their press to perfection and play D. In my opinion they can play with anyone. I am looking forward to the game tonight. Sequatchie has a killer student section to back up their Lady Indians. A great home atmosphere for the girls.

Sequatchie beat Tellico Plains 61-54. Tellico started out great, hit inside and outside shots and led 15-5 late in the first quarter. Sequatchie came back with a 20-2 run over the rest of the first quarter and about half the second quarter, led by 6-12 the rest of the game. They never could pull away completely but maintained the lead and then ran off much of the time in the fourth quarter. Sequatchie's Reno had 22 points, Ledford 11 points and 15 rebounds, Lockhart 17 points.

Having played both Central and Seq., which I believe will meet in the final, I will have to again take Central due to speed and depth.

...Central should have an easier time against Howard than Sequatchie has against Sweetwater...the Lady 'Cats have been 'giant-killers' during the playoffs...I know this is 2008 but looking at the scores from last year the game will probably be just as close...Central vs. Sequatchie final would be very entertaining!!!

    • Pickett is good, may have a Mr. Football like season if he’s used correctly. One of the best teams Marion has fielded in a while. I think they go 12-1 and loose to ER.  ER has better players at almost every position. If they play discipline this year, they win soundly. If they don’t though…Marion could sneak away with it.
    • I’m betting the house on the Indians. Pickett and Co will be the only team to challenge the Indians in the East. Huntingdon can in the West. I think Brooks goes 15-0 and has the first perfect season and state championship in ER history.
    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
    • Maybe OR will be, but Farragut, nah, I don’t think anybody realizes how much of a bad situation that program is in currently. I’m sure they will build out of it, but the next 3 to 4 years are going to be a long climb up.
