I don't really look at who is in what order but who they put there. Hampton????? I know there are 10 other teams in 1A better than them, they just have to come off of the mountain to figure it out..... Also lookout Valley????? yeah right another mountain team.....let them move west of cookeville and see what happens....maybe a little above .500 and that is about it....maybe a 4 seed in the playoffs and that is about it.....

Those are the real top 10.....the east in 1a just gets to hang around until the semis.....must be nice to play within yourselfs and meet up one game away from the state title.....to bad it will not happen again this year....

 

 

 

 

 

I believe it was Hampton who has been playing in the state semis the past two years while your team was sitting at the house.

These polls are nothing more than some young lad's opinion about teams he or she has probably never seen play.

Midway is 7-1, but with no history from the past few years like South Pitt, Jo Byrns... ect. Also, they are from a region that has been weak in the past few years. They may be one of the top ten teams in state, but you gotta remember that polls are popularity contests. Midway may be good but East tennessee is viewed as weaker than middle and west, no matter how true that may be. If you want to get attention or any kind of recognition you need to make the semi's a time or two and then be undefeated.

 

Look at Hampton, if any other team had made back to back semi-final appearances and was currently undefeated they would be #1 in everyone's poll, but because there isn't as much press about east tennessee and the press everywhere else percieves them as weak, they range anywhere from first to tenth.

It also took a couple of years for Hampton to be recognized, People don't really know much about Midway.All any team out there has to do is keep winning and the ratings will hit the ceiling.

I still like the Massey ratings better than any I've seen. It even predicts the scores of every game, every week.
