Reaction, I didn't see you tonight. Did you have your Michigan hat on tonight? I saw several people there tonight. Also, what was that little team that was on the field at halftime? That didn't look like the team I saw last week on the field during halftime. Reaction, if I would have known you were there I would have looked you up. Phillip Beene Stadium had a good environment tonight and it was enjoyable watching the game.

People ask me all the time what it means to bow down. Well, what I witnessed tonight was just that. Friendship Christian bowed down in a big way tonight. WOW!

Yup I was there and I had the hat on. You know us Legends like to blend in. I guess I did a good job of that. Next week I will be back at Beene Stadium. You will have to look me up. Also Pirate Mike I will let ya know later in the week and we can make a meeting place. Good Job Pirates!

Respect/ hate whoever you want Pirate Mike. However, hate is a powerful word & I can't help but be a little offended to comments like that being said about a group of young men.

No doubt TC played with SP a lot better than FC did. TC has a lot of talent & I'm certainly proud of those young men for hanging in there like they did with a team like SP. Heck, I'd be proud of any team to hang with a team like SP! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Like I said earlier, we had some FC boys play hard the whole time, & we had some that could have played a lot harder. I am proud of those young uns in green that kept fighting.

I'm glad to see our young QB get out of this season without any injuries considering how he was POUNDED all season. Not a lot of protection there for the kid. Never once did I hear or see the kid complain. He just got up & kept playing. There were times I didn't see how he was able to get up. Last night wasn't any different, but I think it's made the kid more determined. Although he is only a sophomore, he showed more leadership this year by just playing the game hard. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Respect or hate us all you want. We are proud of our boys!!!

First of all, I don't hate anyone. And I guess saying I don't respect them was a little harsh too. Sorry for that. I just can't stand to see a group of kids give up like they did, then hear about a Coach talking about the opposing team after a loss. I am just saying that a coaches actions reflect in his/hers players. Man, I don't disrespect FCS, good boys. Maybe I should have pointed towards the Coach and not the players. Sorry.

I heard Coach Mac say that he thought SP had more athletic talent that he had seen in all of his years of coaching. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Best of luck SP! You've got a good group of boys with some talent. REALLY GOOD TALENT! If I didn't know what kid was up for the MR. Football, I would have had a hard time picking him out because there were so many playmakers. We briefly talked to a couple of the SP boys & congratulated them on their win, seemed like good kids too.

Oh & Pirate Mike, all is good. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

We all have a few bad apples in our barrel, even FC. /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> Yes, I'm sure that will just shock EVERYONE on here but it is true. I just smile & move on with those guys.

Finally getting to post after having to work today, and taking the Mrs. out for Sat. nite. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

All I can say is WOW. What a talented team Pitt has. Add to that the fact that they seem to be playing together well, and hitting on every cylinder, makes them ALMOST unstoppable. Great place to play, and other than the outcome, I enjoyed the trip.

Commanders, hold your heads up. You were a young team this year, decimated by injury from game 1. We are all proud of all you have accomplished this year despite the obstacles you had to overcome. You came a long way since the Clay Co. game , where you had to fight hard to win, and I have enjoyed watching you guys get better as the season went on.

This game shouldn't be in vain. Take it and learn from it. TN 1A football goes to a higher level every year. Hard work in the offseason will payoff greatly in the fall. Strive to reach the championship level next year. I believe you can do it.

The old sweatervest has been put away for now, as it doesn't do well in the gym. But it will be back, in force, around about the end of August 2008.

Hey Zone,OP and all SP posters congrats on the win I hated to see another region 4 team fall, but the Pirates just have too much ammo this year for region 4 I'm afraid.I felt like SP would handle FC but I figured the Commanders would @@@@ up a few more points than TC did against yall. I just read there was some kind of squabble among the coaches after the game whats up with that if anything.I have to say SP treated us with much respect last week down there and it was a honor to play such a talented team.I forsee gold in the Pirates future this year, but like Grunt I have to pull for the Tigers next week.Well deserved win guys. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Thanks. No real squabble. Coach McNeal just let some "comments" be overheard and they got back to the SP coaches. They took it as a compliment /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> No big deal..emotions were running high I'm sure.

There will always be a high level of respect between TC and SP (and G'ville and SP too).

congrats pirates on a well played game.. and a awesome coaching staff.. to FCS wow, what a huge team... and rickaway is a man... but you just cant do anything with this much speed. but i wanna touch on something no one else seem's too. we are a undersized line to say the least.. but pound for pound and heart for heart spitt's line is the strongest line ive seen in awhile...they dominated... and as for our backfield.. we enough said...Zone yell at me next week ill buy @ halftime... i sat next to a gentleman that came down from hixson just to watch. he said he had been reading about spitt and wanted to judge for himself... he said and i quote " what they say is true wow" ..I am so glad that Gordonsville won, now it's time for redemption... oh yea Zone that youngun of yours is throwing alot better.... get him some peanut butter though lol....

Yea, he needs a lot of peanut butter /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> ...and a year in the weight room.

Just wait till this week....SP and Red Bank are the onll area teams (except one in GA I think) that are still playing and Red Bank is at Maryville. There will be a lot of new faces this week

I heard what he said and it didnt sound like "crying" to me. I think maybe if you want to put a post like that on here you should tell everything Coach Mac said. For example, his quote about that in all his years of coaching at Goodpasture, Lipscomb and FCS that he doesnt ever remember playing an opponent with that many talented athletes on the field at once. He went on to say that there is no doubt S Pitt was the better team. He commented that he thought we moved the ball well but just couldnt score.

As for the "crying" you are talking about, his comment was yes S Pitt was throwing fades when they were up 42 and if thats how you want to play then fine, work on what you feel you need to work on but his position has always been that he felt he would have a hard time looking himself in the mirror if one of his guys was hurt late in the game with the game in hand. He went on to say that he and Coach Perry from Mt Juliet had just talked about that and both agreed on that point.

I felt it was a very gracious talk by the coach of his team after they had been beaten the night before by a better opponent.

I appreciate his comments but I saw the FC-Temple game. He has no problem pouring on the coal when he is on the winnning side. It would have been more gracious just to "No Comment" that. I'm sure he had cooled off a little from the previous night.

FC did move the ball well at times, your QB is very good. He hurt us with the QB draw...he is good about getting right behind a couple of blockers and then just popping out. We were playing without 2 starters in the secondary and that hurt us some....especially over the middle where the kid had never played FS before. We should be healthy for next week

Old Pirate says, Possumtowner, anyone who watched that game that has any football knowledge could see the dogs called off. The passing game has been the Pirates weakest plays. OP says "anyone" who would stop and think about it???????????????? what is a team to do when the mercy rule is in effect, "run some of your weakest plays". Most people think SP "can't throw the ball, well that thought was erased by anyone who witnessed the game. Running the ball outside would probably produced more... and running inside is flirting with injury from the probable contact coming from all directions. OP says some folks must think a team should take a knee on 1st & 2nd down and then punt on 3rd down.

Old Pirate says these SP seniors have worked through tough times. Former players should know every senior wants to play the majority of the game and soak up as much as possible. Heck, they'll be just another old pirate come fall.

OP says folks sometimes say things, that they wish they hadn't said. That's just life.

Congrats to FCS on a fine season and good luck down the road.

    • It was not ACHS at all, they have zero reason to worry about Clinton.  It had to do with a kid (non football player)  that had a charge and appeared in front of the juvenile judge.  The judge saw that the kid was way behind credit wise for his grade and told him to reappear in a month with a plan to graduate.  When the kid reappeared he had more that twice the credits than one month before.  The judge called BS and contacted the school.  That is what started the investigation.  This involves multiple students, but to this point no athletes are involved.
    • I believe the Covington Chargers travel to Trenton Peabody for a scrimmage today? Anyone going to this? Curious how the Chargers will do.
    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
