Curt Phillips

UT was going to offer him as an "athlete" , which meant a move to WR or DB. This kids a QB, Wisconsin, Duke, Stanford, MTSU, VT all knew it. If he was from Texas, California or Oregon, UT probably would have offered him.

Or the fact that next year they will have a redshirt junior QB, a redshirt soph, and a redshirt freshman at the position under scholarship and nearly all of UT's recruiting focus this year is on linemen. And the redshirt-freshman is a kid from TN that the coaching staff seems really excited about.

Funny though, the biggest trouble-makers in the programs recently have been the golden-boy in-state kids that everyone clamored for UT to recruit.

Good luck to Curt in Wisconsin.

Agree. There is alot of talk about the Coleman kid challenging for the job. The instate kids do seem to be the cancers, however this wouldn't have been the case with Curt. He's a classy kid, well spoken and brought up right. I only wish we would have had the opportunity to watch him in orange, instead of red.

The thing about recruiting from around Knoxville is if the kids are around there dirt bag friends then they are going to get into trouble. Recruiting out of state takes them away from some of there friends that can get them into trouble, an they get to school an make new friends hopefully not thugs. That's what happens around here in Greeneville football players that go to Tusculum still hang out with there dirt bag friends an that get them into trouble. ( BJ Washington)

I do. They would rather go out of state and get a 5 star "athelete" with 1 star character that will get booted from the team after his so. year than to offer a local 4 star football player with 5 star character a ride. That is why we cant beat good football teams is because we are playing with atheletes and they are playing with football players.

Tennessee signed 11 in state players last year, most of which were 3 star players and even 2 star Cory Hall. Dennis Rogan, from Knoxville, was just named SEC Speacial Teams Player of the Week. He's a 3 star player UT signed. By the way, we signed a QB from Tennessee last year.

Also, those athletes or atheletes we are signing are being recruited by every other team in the south and sometimes country.

With that said, I was hoping UT would offer Phillips. However, he commited to Wisconsin pretty early so who's to say he wouldn't have been offered by UT. They might still offer him, although I doubt it.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
