First of all your crazy if you think single A ball is just a step ahead of rec ball. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> What have you been smoking? You can look at our schedule and see how many AA teams that we are playing as well as traditional single A powerhouses in the east. We tried to pick up more AA and AAA schools to play this season but they refused to so therefore we play what we can get to fulfill our game limit. If we win tonite we will play AC in the championship. AC is a very good team this year, I watched them play last nite. I don't know if we can beat them but we will give them a good game. We first have to get by last years AAA state champions from Alabama (Glenwood Academy). We are also playing AC in the regular season as well. The season is early. Give us a break and lets just play ball.

Listen, I am just going by what their coach told me. He said they play in the AAA independent private school class which consists of schools with enrollments up to about 800 students. I am not suggesting anything either, I was simply replying to redandblack63 about our schedule. You are right, there is a lot of ball to be played.

AC beat Grace by 12 last night...it probably could have been more but Grace continued pressing versus AC's subs at the end...Either way Grace kept it close for most of the game and fought back when AC had a chance to put them away in the 3rd... Grace is a very talented team and will be a force in single A this season....Pridemore and Slusher were both held to single digits with AC throwing a lot of different guys at them yet they kept their composure and created for others....Wannamaker is also a good player. He did not back down from AC's bigs even after multiple blocks and dunks...Grace is a great atmosphere and fun place to watch basketball...Grace hosting a substate this season is a distinct possibility.....

Thanks for the compliments 'chill'. I am proud of our guys. They played a very good AA team Saturday night for the championship and the better team won. Next to Fulton, I don't see anyone from the east to run with the Mavs. They are big, talented, and very fast....coached well too. Congrats to AC on their win and hope you guys have a great season. This is very good for Grace to play up against the good AA teams. I think it will help us a lot in the long run as we have quite a few AA teams scheduled.

Go Rams

Sorry redandblack, I understand the pits of despair remark. What is the deal over at Central? Are they ever gonna get things going in basketball? I don't get it- I lived in Knoxville from 92-96 and I always wondered about Central.

I still don't agree with you about the rec ball comment but we will have to agree to disagree on that topic.

I am glad to see that Grace is trying to get bigger schools on the schedule- Coach Lamb is about getting better and if that means getting beat some he will do that too.

I think one of the biggest problems with 1A schools is the coaching. Some have no coaching what so ever. Or it is the football coach just wasting time till the pigskin season. There are some good ones and I think Knoxville could be a place that 1A basketball thrives in Tennessee. By the way, does anyone know how many 1A schools are in Knoxville?

All I can think of right now in 1A is:

Grace Christian (GCA)

Berean Christian

TSD

Knoxville Christian School (KCS)

Ambassadors (non sanctioned)

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
