1. Bearden (17-1): The No. 1 ranking could be in jeopardy tonight and Tuesday (at Maryville). The Rebels delivered Bearden its only loss (94-92). Tonight: No. 6 Farragut.

 

2. Oak Ridge (17-1): Sure the Wildcats are shooting better this season, but their defensive intensity makes them go. The Region 2-AAA Tournament is going to be fun to watch. Tonight: Karns.

 

3. Maryville (15-3): The Rebels can create some breathing room for themselves atop District 4-AAA with wins tonight and Tuesday (against Bearden). Tonight: Heritage.

 

4. Austin-East (16-5): Chattanooga isn't treating the Roadrunners well. Three of their five losses can be traced to Choo-Choo teams (Brainerd twice and Howard). Tonight: Alcoa.

 

5. Fulton (10-4): Tonight's contest is the second of four consecutive road games for the Falcons. Jalen Steele has proved to be one of many talented sophomores in PrepXtra. Tonight: at Seymour.

 

6. Farragut (16-5): The Admirals have won nine of their last 12 games. But the indefinite loss of 6-foot-3 Riley Hunley may slow their progress. Tonight: at No. 1 Bearden.

 

7. Powell (13-3): The Panthers will be battle-tested (or beat up) come playoff time. They finish rough: Oak Ridge, Fulton and Bearden. Last year, they ended the same way and went 2-1 en route to a state-tournament appearance. Tonight: Halls.

 

8. Anderson County (16-3): The Mavericks came out on the right end of a four-overtime game last Friday with Stone Memorial but fell to Catholic on Tuesday and suffered their first 4-AA loss. Tonight: at Kingston.

 

9. Carter (14-4): The Green Hornets, who have won eight of their last nine games, had five guys in double figures last Friday. The record could take a hit soon, facing Fulton Saturday and next Friday. Sandwiched between is a meeting with Austin-East. Tonight: off.

 

10. Grace (14-3): The Rams are undefeated in the new year and 6-0 in District 3-A. Tonight: Harriman.

There is going to be some great AAA and AA regional games this year. I can't wait to get past the district tourneys, and see some of these seperate districts go at it.
