The new MatMan rankings are up at the TWF website. Check the link below to get there:

I would personally like to thank everyone that sent in results over the past week. Without your help the rankings would be much more difficult.

If there is anything missing from the rankings feel free to let us know via the e-mails listed at the top of the rankings.

I know I am missing the results of St. Benedict vs Brentwood Academy and Brentwood Academy vs MBA so those dual results were not factored in unless I was told of specific matches.

/roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> How can anyone take GHouse's rankings seriously when he places a member, Peter Bonilla, of his team (CBHS) at 2nd at 145 when he has been injured for the last two weeks and is out for the season due to a shoulder surgery???

Has it been totally decided that Bonilla is out of the rest of the season? Are you 100% sure that he won't be wrestling any more this season?

I bet Peter could "seriously" beat you with only one working shoulder!

theman,

Well I am glad that at least someone is reading the rankings.

Contrary to what you may think there is a method to my madness. It all really comes down to a matter of respect for the wrestler(s) that may or may not be out injured.

Any time a ranked wrestler drops out of the line-up (whether injury or other reason) I try and give them approximately a month of inactivity before they are dropped from the rankings. Typically the only time I will deviate from that plan is if I hear from the wrestler or his coach and am asked to remove him.

An example of this comes from the newest set of rankings: 125 Matt Brewer of Father Ryan. The last time I can find a record of him competing was at the McCallie Invitational which occurred December 14th and 15th. Oddly enough you will see the note in the 125 rankings this week where he was removed (the current rankings covered January 13th-19th).

I believe you will find that I took a fairly similar approach with both of the Shufford brothers from Baylor as well. The only time you will tend to find me deviate from this is if a teammate moves in to that wrestlers spot and the results or other information indicates that this is a line-up change and the first wrestler is not expected to reclaim that spot.

Now, to touch on the specific instance you brought up: the last time Peter Bonilla competed was December 29th according to the results CBHS published. If Peter Bonilla has not competed by this weekend it is my intention to remove him from the rankings.

Whether you take my rankings seriously or not doesn't change the fact that I do. By taking this approach I am able to elminate using any inside information I have, whether it be from St. Benedict when I was there or CBHS now. I don't think any coaching staff would want someone spilling the personal happenings inside the wrestling and locker room just because that person with access does the rankings. I am pretty sure both Coach Hamm and Coach Bray will back me up on that one.

Now notice that I still haven't needed to say anything about the condition of any of the athletes mentioned. If that time of information is to become public it is up to that wrestler, their family, and coach.

Hopefully now you better understand the logic behind my rankings.

Are there more than one Brett Shields? I see he is ranked at both 145 and 160. A Brett Shields wrestled Taylor Dixon in the finals of Halls and he look like a very big 160. I hope for all those 145 that he is not planning on cutting down to that weight.

Also I think these kids might be ranked at the wrong weights... 119-Josh Jadoobirsign (Cleveland) is at 112, 135 Kenny Erman of Pigeon Forge is at 145(was a big 145).

All of these things were notes as of Wednesday, but unfortunately the rankings had already been sent. Bye the way, i agree with you GHouse!

It is kind of funny how we started getting all of that information after the rankings went out /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />.

    • Trinity Christian Academy will host the West Tennessee High School Basketball All-Star games on Saturday.  The girls game starts at 5 and boys will play at 6:30. In the boys game, Mr Basketball finalist Maliki Brooks from Union City is scheduled to compete. On the other side, the ultra talented AJ Morman will be defending the hometown turf one last time. West Tennessee Sports will livestream the two contests beginning at 4:50 pm Saturday.  The broadcast link is https://www.facebook.com/WestTennesseeS1. Stan Gerard will have the call of both games.
    • Do you have contact numbers for these coaches or schools
    • My honest prediction for us this year is that we will be slightly worse than we were last year. I hope I’m pleasantly surprised but I don’t see it happening. Lost some seniors who had been playing since day 1 as freshman. Lost a lot on the line. It will be an uphill battle for us. Hopefully we improve as the year progresses and maybe will have a dog in the fight by playoff time
    • With the loss of 5 players plus losing the 8th graders I can't see Greenback fielding much more than a 18 man team this year and if so the Sunbright game may be their only chance of a win from what I heard this morning.
    • Yes I think Fillies will be really good by end of season.  They are missing their Sr center right now who is a game changer and they are meshing all these freshman with three starting senior guards from last season.  Looking forward to seeing them get better and better.
