Girls team better,........... Maybe so, BUT ................. not a very well coached game IMO ! When you have two "players" with 4 fouls IMO take it to 'em ! It WAS a closer game than the score indicated ! O.C. does have the talent (seems they always have) ............ that I WILL admit ! Impressive ! Potential WAS there for an upset though. D.C. didn't take advantage of opportunities GIVEN to them ! Simple ............. yep ! That I'll admit, but D.C. had their chances !

BIG BIG game for DC tues. play westview if we win we finish ahead of them Dyersburg still has 2 dist. games left G.C away and the Rebels at home could be a fun week we could finish 4th or 6 th. I know What if .What if

If he was ejected from the game that would result in the next game being a suspension.

Article III, Section 9 from the TSSAA bylaws:

B. The school will be given a choice of removing the coach for a specified number of contest(s) and pay a fine of $250.00 or face further disciplinary action. The school shall not allow the suspended coach to attend games while under suspension.

I don't know if TSSAA will take more of a discipline action with him having to be escorted off the court or not but we'll see.

If I were an OC fan I wouldn't be too worried, your next game is against Crockett Co. You should beat them without a coach!

Okay- I've been amused as to how others(whether they were there or not) viewed this situation. So since I was there at courtside here's what actually happen. The DC girl missed a shot(she was struggling shooting from around 5 feet of the basket) got a rebound and was stripped of the ball from behind by the OC player. The Lady Rebel was trapped along the base line between 2 Lady Choctaws, one of which kept bumping her as she was already in a low position(this is the issue that the OC coach had with the situation in the fact that no foul was called) the Lady Rebel player retaliated (while holding the ball with both hands) and was called for the offensive foul. Granted that foul should've been called but the beef the OC head coach had with the official was that no foul was called for the bumping along the baseline prior to that on DC. He called a timeout , was in the ear of the ref who made the call and was issued a technical foul. He kept pleading the case for his player and was told by the official to go sit down. Another official came over and had a verbal exchange with the Coach(while he was walking back to his seat) and this is where emotions were running high and the coach was accessed the 2nd T which was an ejection from the game. As far as having to be escorted out by police, the coach was already walking to the locker room and still talking with the ref when a school official and an officer came onto the floor but he (the coach) left on his own.

A $250 fine and suspension for two (2) games which will be Crockett Co. at home on Tuesday and at Dyersburg on Thursday. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

To sum up - I think DC has a quality girls team who just had a bad night shooting the ball. The Lady Rebels played the better game and I thought they came out very business like after halftime and took care of things in the 2nd half. Parchman carried the Lady Choctaws in the 3rd quarter but OC put the game away with a 19-4 run in the 4th quarter as Roney had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds and McGee added 15 points and 8 rebounds. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Physical play is part of the game and sometimes it's tolerated more than other times depending upon the officials and the situation. I know it's easier said than done but everyone must keep their emotions

in check. Bottom line is a Coach is always going to protect and defend their team and that was part of the case here. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

I was there...... and PLEADING and what he was doing are 2 diff. things. Sorry, he was at mid court stopped...... still yelling when escorted off the court. No DOUBT they played a BETTER game than DC......would have won regardless /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> . This was a spectacle that went on for minutes not seconds. If this is his regular reaction to questionable calls maybe he should take ant-anxiety medication before the game /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> YOUNG kids go to games too...they do not need to see an adult that can't control himself to that extent. One T would have been exceptable...this was pushing it.He'll pay the price and it is over with so maybe some lessons will be learned.

I couldn`t agree more. The better team won. No arguement.

Mom is right there was no pleading involved at all. When he started on the first ref, he was about 15 feet in front of the OC bench. The second ref came in to assist and he got in his face as well. That took place about half court and that`s where he was still "pleading" (loudly and angrily) when the cops had to escort him off the floor. They didn`t have to mace him or drag him, but no way was he walking off the court when they came out. As I said, the refs as usual had a bad night on both ends of the court, but there`s no way to sugarcoat what took place with that incident. It was ugly, uncalled for, and ashamed to represent a good program like OC has in that manner.

Come on!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Coach Suiter was simply protecting his players interests. Both teams' players got physical and the game was getting out of control. Coach Suiter did not have to be "escorted" as that implies physical restraint to be removed from the floor. In reality, the security guard did not even make it out onto the court before Coach Suiter started walking off the floor. Funny that the security guard went in one direction while Suiter went in another! That's some "escort"! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

First off, that was a Newbern cop, not a security guard. Secondly, you`re right in saying it was physical on both ends and a coach should "protect his players", so how is it he was the only coach to get T`d up twice then ejected from the game and ESCORTED off the floor. If you read my earlier post, you would have seen that I said he "they did not have to mace him or drag him out", but he was escorted out by the Newbern Police Dept. and they did walk out together. As I also said, there`s no way to sugarcoat what happened. I`m not trying to make bad of the guy, but what happened, happened. He made a mistake and now he has to live with it.

You need to hop on the first plane and come back to reality.......the COP was at mid court w/him. Like I SAID in a post above...probably a nice guy...but at that moment he was obviously in another dimension w/you! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> Man looked like an oversize middle school kid out there...no wait a minute..THEY would have handled that situation better ROFLK Gave me a heck of a laugh though.

Jana is doing okay and will be ready for the Lady Rebs next game(Crockett Co.)

As for the incident, it was unfortunate and I'm sure those involved feel some remorse /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

A fine is levied at the coach that the TSSAA imposes on those who are ejected from a game.

I understand someone tried to start a fund to help pay for the costs of the fine and rumor has it

that NSHD has pledged $200 /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

What a Nice gesture-- it's a 20 year , old school , feel good , Hallmark Story!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Wow,

I have read these posts from start to finish and I'm a little shocked by some of the comments. How about we start worrying about how the fans act and not everyone else. It's hard to get good officials from the way the fans act all of the time. If we are going to judge coaches on how they act then lets judge the fans on their attitudes. I would be more ashamed to let my kid sit in a crowd of fans then to let them sit on a bench with the coaches at most games. Just look around sometime and see who's acting the bigger fool.

While we are on coaches. The rumor had it that that there was a big uproar earlier in the year between Dyer Co and Liberty. Heard there was profanity being shouted out and no T's were issued out that game, but you're right. Let's get upset because the team got beat and because a coach was trying to defend his kids. Heard there were several bad calls leading up to that not just one incident.

Dyer County and OC have terrific teams. Don't even understand the point of these threads. Talk about the kids and how hard they work and quit worrying about the coaches and the officials.
