Perry county travels to Santa Fe friday night for round 1 of the region tournament. Perry county revolves around the outside game and is a pretty small team, while santa fe mainly revolves around their post game and is a rather good sized team. How will this game go and will santa fe be able to make it past round 1 this year..what are your predictions?

It will depend on Perry Co.'s injury situation. If their 2 starters are back I believe PC will win by 7 or 8 . If 1 or both are out this game is a tossup.

Santa Fe has an injury also. White hurt her foot or ankle in the 11A District Championship game. She was in walking boot last night. Santa Fe should dominate the boards if Perry County is a small team but if Perry County can get up and down the court Santa Fe will have a hard time with that. Santa Fe is slow and do not play very good against pressure defense. I think Santa Fe wins this one by controlling the boards but never count Perry County out. I don't see either team winning in the next round especially if they play Collinwood.

I've seen both play and Perry Co. is definitely the better team when healthy. Also PC has already defeated C'wood by 14.

A couple of games before we played C'wood we started really playing well. Very, very fast and not turning the ball over while doing it. That is how we beat C'wood. This was really about a 5 point game because they had to foul and we made the free throws to increase the margin.

Then Dabbs sprained her ankle and will not (should not) play this season. She still limps when walking on it. If she wasn't our top scorer and rebounder, she was at least second in both categories.

Then Leegan sprained her ankle but fortunately not as severe and played well against Summertown. We are not likely to have won without her. She is the only player we have that can consistantly beat the player in front of her and break down a defense by dishing off or scoring it.

We have a lot of trouble with tall teams. If we cannot get back court turnovers, we will have a lot of problems winning a half court game. So it is PC run and gun versus SF power inside. Which ever team can dictate the tempo has a huge advantage. In any event, we have to have at least a average night at the 3 point line. If we go cold from there, we are 1 and done. This should be a very interesting game to watch. No matter who wins, I don't see either of us getting past C'wood who I think will win at home and the most probable of all the 8 Teams competing to get to the Regioal Finals.

I will be at the game and I'm pulling for PC. I think they win by 8.

Well, all things considered, Santa Fe definitely has the size going for them, but if PC plays as well as they have against Summertown the last two times and Collinwood when they defeated them, then PC has a pretty good chance of coming out on top in this one. If PC will put it to them on defense and make good on some fast breaks, then they will be fine. Dabbs for PC is expected to get some limited playing time Friday. Her ankle is by no means 100%, but has improved by leaps and bounds over this last week! Hopefully, PC can get the job done without Dabbs hitting the floor, so hopefully come Monday, Dabbs can be back on the floor. Collinwood will be hard to beat without Dabbs, and I just don't know if PC has what it takes to beat them without her.

Perry Co. by 12.

Perry County gets up and down the floor better than anyone in 12A. Their ability to get out on the break is one of the main reasons they beat the trojanettes earlier in the year. Also, they have great outside shooters starting with their starting senior guards all the way down to the starting freshman. if they box out, Santa Fe doesn't stand a chance, especially if white is out with her injury. I think it would be much easier for Collinwood if they got to play Santa Fe, but I'll be pullin for the 12A team.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
