Maryville and Oak Ridge is too tough to call. Stephens can shut down Damron as seen earlier, but can Oak Ridge handle the inside play of Maryville? I say 5 point game, not picking a winner. As for Bearden and Farragut I don't know that one either. Farragut had Bearden on the ropes in the district tournament which should help a lot in the confidence department. I'm not going to pick a winner in this one either, but I'm going to say a single digit game.

On another note, I hope the officials for these two games are from out of the area. It's always nice to have a crew that hasn't seen of these players play this year and they can call the game unbiasedly.

Right on with 5 points. haha.

Oak Ridge- 60

Maryville- 55

Apparently Douglas wasnt that big of a difference. Great game!!

Haha thanks. Too bad I didn't pick Oak Ridge or I'd look like a genius. That was one of the better games I had seen this year. Oak Ridge's pressure killed Maryville and they did a good job of taking Damron out of the game. Number 11 for Oak Ridge stepped up huge for Oak Ridge nailing 3 3's in the 4th quarter that put them up for good.

Bearden-Farragut was about how I figured. Farragut played well, but Bearden is just a good team. Farragut put a good run together in the 3rd quarter. If they had hit their free throws it might have been a different game.

Bearden and Oak Ridge should be a great game. Oak Ridge will be able to pressure Bearden, but if they break the press all they will have to do is throw it up to Simpson. Too close to call.

#11 is jr. wing Tucker Trent. He is a tall three point specialist and really came through in the clutch which is nice to see. The championship game thursday should be a good one. I'm sure Bearden will focus on trying to break the press of Oak Ridge. Again, this is another game that Oak Ridge has an advantage in guard play and a weakness on the interior. Hopefully for Oak Ridge, Dowdell and Gregory will not get into foul trouble like they did tonight. I think Bearden should steal Maryville's strategy and go with the 2-3 zone. This will really put pressure on the shooting of Oak Ridge which has been inconsistent this year.

What i saw in this game was Maryville was the much better team but just did not have the right game plan. Not taking anything away from OR but maryville ddi not go down low enuff. When Douglas and reynolds got the ball down low the scored almost everytime. Maryville guards shot to many 3's without giving the post a chance to open up the 3. If maryville would of went down low then the 3's would of opened up with ease. Congrats to Oak Ridge

Didn't Maryville have 30 turnovers. That might explain why they didn't get it down low enough. I knew Maryville would struggle with O.R.'s pressure. Eldridge is a very good Coach. polishs that Ring every once in a while. I am sure his game plan was sound players were unable to execute. with 30 T.O.'s it is a miracle they were within 5.

As stated above Oak Ridges pressure D was the difference. They never let Maryville get comfortable. Also Oak Ridge was 45% from the line and below 40% from the field and still beat the #2 team in the state. Maryville is a very good team with good balance. They have good outside threats in Click and Lambert a great player in Damron and two huge post presences in Douglas and Reynolds. Plus the reason Maryville was scoring so easily down low was because OR top two post defenders had 4 fouls in the third and couldnt come in until late in the fourth. But the bottom line is Oak ridge just wore them down with their press and depth. Both teams are deserving of a chance to go to state its a shame both cant but when it came down to it Oak Ridge got the job done when it mattered thanks to their D, clutch play of Tucker Trent and Jared Stephens senior leadership.

Maryville had 21 turnovers, not 30, according to the Maryville Daily Times. The turnovers were certainly a factor in the game's outcome but Maryville, despite the turnover issues, had rallied to take a 5 point lead with under 5 minutes to go and most of their turnovers had already occurred by that time. It looked like Maryville was going to win in spite of the turnovers but Tucker Trent simply stepped up BIGTIME for the Wildcats down the stretch with 10 points in the last 5 minutes ( 3 threes and a free throw).

As a Maryville fan, I would like to congratulate both teams on tremendous efforts. The intensity level of the game was at a fever pitch from the opening tip and the atmosphere in the building was electric. I am certainly disappointed the Rebels lost but my hat's off to Oak Ridge for a job well done.
