This is true and not to take anything away from Danny because I think he is the best around. But the goalie always gets credit it seems for shutouts. He did not get tested thanks to our defense. Our defense got the shutout really. Andrew Roden, Chris Wilson are stalwarts as always. The others that Weekley was trying out did a good job...Burt is still out hurt. The team played well and was aggressive winning the ball.

Baylor 2 CCS 0

Goals for Baylor: Zander Davis, Carter Paden

Shutout: Danny Van Valkinburgh

If you are going to split hairs, the entire team should get credit for the shutout, not just the back four.

Absolutely Cincyred. The team looked strong on defense and offense.....and hopefully we will find the back of the net more this year. We should get a good test at Ooltewah this week. I can't be at the scrimmage so I hope you will give a report on it later.

We're all friends, so no disrespect to the defense of Baylor.

More importantly is the offense by the Red Raiders. Not many team will put two balls past the CCS keeper this year. He made some fantastic saves to keep the score respectable.

Keep scoring Baylor!

Hopefully the weather will cooperate for the scrimmage. I agree that this should be a great test for both teams before the season starts.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
