Carl Stewart is doing well at the NFL Combines.

Carl did 30 reps in the bench press. 30 reps of 225lbs. That is what usually linemen do.

Carl had a 39' verticle leap. That doesn't surprise me. I still remember a dunk he had on an alley oop back in 2002 when Maryville played South Doyle.

Carl had the 2nd best standing long jump.

Carl is a great athlete. I just wish UT would have recruited him as a fullback. UT wanted him to play linebacker. Carl blocked better than anyone on UT's roster.

It was great seeing him working out at Cherokee Health and Fitness in the artcle the other day. Great facility and Sports Performance training here in Blount Co. It's nice to see Carl doing well. He was an excellent kid to be around at MHS during his playing days. He is one of my kids all time favorite MHS players.

What did Maryville recruit him as. Sorry I just couldn't resist.

I too wish U.T. would have recruited him at running back. Hate to see talented local players go somewhere else and we give scholarships to out of staters who can't play as well. I also understand Stewart is a fine young man . More the reason for the Large Orange to recruit him

He did have a very good career at Auburn. I noticed in the games I caught on T.V. that he was a very good blocker and an efficient runner. Maybe he will get the opportunity to play on Sundays.

Carl Stewart was a very good player and is one of many many that have left the state over the course of the last ten years to have nice careers at other schools (Ahmad Galloway-Alabama), Golden Tate (Notre Dame)....Patrick Turner (USC) and Adralius Bowman (Okie St) to just name a few.

    • They will probably, struggle
    • Dyersburg is going to be good, really good. As mentioned, they have a lot of talent on the way and the trio of Chelby, Joya, and KayKay will only be better with a full season together under their belt. To me, playing in Murfreesboro two consecutive postseasons will only serve to make them more dangerous if/when they stand among the final eight teams this March. Experience, good or bad, always makes you better. And not only do they have experience, they know how to win there. Schedules are coming together for all of the teams and I am excited about what I am seeing on the preliminary drafts on Dyersburg’s schedule. I know I am being a tease, but it’s simply not my place to announce what another school is doing. With that said, I won’t go into specifics. However, I am excited about renewed home and away contracts for the non-district portion of the calendar. I think west Tennessee will have a lot of interest as well.
    • What does everyone have in the final 8? In no particular order. 1. Eagleville 2. Gordonsville 3. Greenback 4. Oakdale 5. South Pitt/ East Robertson-- not sure 6. Richland 7. Halls 8. Union City
    • They struggled to field a team last year. I don’t see them being much better?
