Do you work for the Tennessean? If not, don't speak for them. I would bet a lot of money they would laugh at your posts in this thread. It's sad you would actually direct skepticism at a player of her caliber and allude she doesn't know the difference between an offer and " receiving letters".

I am quite certain with Kayla and her mother's ( the coach) basketball IQ she knows what the difference is between offers and letters. I am sure the Tennessean would have had to add a lot more schools if she listed the schools she was receiving interest from.

Kayla's one of the top guards in the nation for the class of 2009 and easily one of the most recruited players in Class A in a long long time. Just leave it at that. The more you put your foot in your mouth the more it reflects poorly on Jackson County fans for not being able to objectively discuss non Jackson County players without attempting to devalue their worth.

"Said she already has offers from .................................". Which tells us the Tennessean is reporting what she said and not actually saying it themselves.

Getting a letter and getting an actual offer are 2 different things. Many kids say they have offers but they don't always. That is why the Tennessean worded it that way. (just in case)

In this case, the Tennessean misunderstood Kayla when she said she was "being recruited" by those schools. Since it's not a direct quote it's hard to make a big deal about it, but she's upset nonetheless about having her words stretched.

Newspapers have "misunderstood" me before and made things sound a lot better than actually the case. I've never been comfortable with it, but that's just the nature of "reporting."

Maybe I am mistaken but can a college offer a junior a scholorship? I thought they had to be seniors. If correct, then these schools are going to have to be investigated by the TSSAA or the NCAA.

Can anyone verify this information????

Yes, this girl is good. I wonder if all the votes were in prior to Collinwood getting knocked out of the Region tourney. If so, then Abby Andrews will probably get Ms. Basketball. If not, Kayla will most likely get it and is probably the best player in Class A. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

She should be a shoe-in next year as a senior and will be a major catch for any College. If I were her, I would give MTSU a major look.

The person that made the post you are referring to is not from Jackson County, there is not a need to get bent out of shape.

As a Jackson County fan, I personally know Kayla and her parents, her play simply speaks for its self, we will be watching her play on TV some where big time.

This girl would be the dominant go-to player on ANY team she played for. She is that good. CR spent 1/2 the game doubling her and she still shot an outstanding average and proved that no even two quality defenders could stop her. She's head and shoulders above anyone I've seen and played team ball the entire game. She will be a true asset to any college lucky enough to sign her.

I was sitting there yesterday when the question was asked of Kayla and I believe she was giving a list of schools that were recruiting her or she was interested in. I don't remember exactly how it was worded, but it was something like that. I don't think she said anything about receiving offers from any of these schools it was more a list of schools on the radar. I also don't think a school can make an official offer until late in the summer before your senior season. Anyway, when the time comes she'll have plenty to choose from and she'll make a good decision.

i KNOW kAYLA, HER MOM AND SHE WOULD BE VERY DESERVING OF ANY AWARD OR OFFER SHE GETS AND FROM WHAT I KNOW SHE IS AS GOOD A PERSON AS BASKETBALL PLAYER. ANY OF THE LADIES NOMINATED IS VERY DESERVING AND THE WINNER WON'T BE DESIDED BY ONE GAME AND I WISH THEM ALL THE BEST AND JUST BEING NOMINATED IS A HONOR SO ALL THREE IN MY BOOK IS A WINNER, BUT ONE WILL BE PICKED

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
