I think its great for TN soccer in general, Haha BIG G i think you would agree that it would be much sweeter to claim victory from your team if your star player is in the lineup....just joking with you, but seriously if i was still playing I wouldnt be as satisfied with a win if the other team was handicapped in any way, and in my personal opinion I do believe that CAK falls somewhat shorthanded without this kid on their roster.

I think it will be great to see Brandon on the field again. He is a great player. I don't really understand what the big deal is? If anything we should be happy to have another great player playing against us (or with us if you play for CAK). High school soccer is more than just winning games, its about having bonding and growing, representing your school, having fun, and playing soccer. This should make states even closer now. Good luck Brandon.

BigG, i think you handled this situation great. Does TSSAA not have some rule against this?

Does TSSAA not have some rule against this?

Actually no. As long as a player meets all of the eligibility standards, he/she can be added at any time during your season. There is no "locked" roster date.

Other teams have used this unlocked rule when they have transfers from other schools that have to sit out a year from their last game, and the school that they transfered to made it farther in the playoffs, so these transfer player would be "rostered" in the state tournament.

I hardly ever get on here but a friend of mine was telling me about this forum. First of all i would like to thank everyone who has been supportive of me and CAK, it takes a lot of wisdom to speak kindly and not rash about a situation even though you don't agree with it or think it is fishy. As far as the negative comments- i don't care what you guys say about me it has absolutely no effect on my opinion of myself, so say how you feel or what you think is best.

The reason i had to write on this forum is for someone that i deeply care about G. Some of you guys have spoken rashly and have nailed G for what he has done. This seems completely unfair for it was I who has put him in this situation so i will definitely stand by him. How can anyone on these boards bash G and say they have lost respect for him. We all know with out a doubt that G has the more class than anyone on these boards. i have never seen him bring ANYONE down in his comments. So how can you rip him for what he has done when has never done spoken an ill word towards any of you. If you have problems with the situation take it out on me. I'm the one who created the situation.

I would like to share some of my thoughts as well. someone hit it right on the mark earlier in the forum. i have played so much soccer in my short life. when i think back i can't ever remember having a season of the year off. so when i finished my club season this past winter i was very tired of soccer. i decided to take a break and just enjoy my senior year of high school and be a normal kid. as some predicted, including G, i got 2 months into my period of doing nothing and i realized that i missed soccer in general. i'm all about soccer and i love the sport as much as anyone out there can, and it took me a while to realize that i would miss it but i finally did. I didn't know what to expect when G and i talked but he said he would consider it and talk to the other coaches and the captains. It really was not something that they all took lightly, we even had an hour long meeting to discuss my coming back and what that would mean to others, we talked about others way more than we even discussed me being back on the team. I respect how G and the captains handled the whole situation and how they generous they were in allowing me to come back to the team. G, i believe, handled the situation well and he didn't decide quickly but took a bunch of peoples advice. I will be danged if i sit here and let him take crap for all of this so cut it out and say whatever you have to say to ME.

As G has said before, he and i have a close relationship unlike most coaches and their players. i consider him one of my very good friends. Our relationship also has a lot to do with me coming back too. We have been through a lot during our high school years with winning big games and losing games and other personal stuff that doesn't even have to do with soccer. as i sat in the crowd watching the CAK games, i began to think to myself is this really how i want to end my high school years. i knew G supported me but was obviously somewhat dissappointed too. i know i dissapointed some of the players too. so i decided i didn't want it to end like this and called G to talk it over. So either way this year i was going to disappoint G by not playing or disappoint and anger all you other people who are didn't want me to play. so either way i was gonna disappoint someone i guess. So logically i chose to play who cares if i disappoint all you people i don't know you guys have no part in my life.

One thing i wanted to clear up is the thing that cincyred said about me ditching my odp team. This is a great example of someone irrashionally speaking out on a situation they have no clue about and i'm sorry to call you out cincy but its really perfect. During that spring when the odp team was going to nationals, i was down in the residency program with the national team. now down there, they are 100% soccer and its very serious. it was pretty much like a job for us residency boys. Being so serious, the coaches let us go home twice during the whole year other than christmas, so once in the fall and once in the spring. it just so happened that the one week they let me come home was the week that the odp team had nationals. that was a tough decision for me too at the time but ultimately i decided i missed my family and friends too much to not go home so i finally decided to go home. so can you really blame me? if you hold resentment towards me for that than i'm sorry and and there is nothing i can do about it except wish you didn't feel that way.

Another thing i would like to clear up is the fact that some might think i'm a prima dona or whatever. Think what you want but in no way do i try and act like that. i think there was a time in my life where i was like that probably as recent as freshmen year but that has all changed. when i got invited down to florida i was honored and it was a great experience but it put me in the middle of the soccer world and i was amazed. guys there are players down there that are just amazing and at no point down while i was down there did i consider myself to be in the top 15 players of the residency program. Some people think i'm good but the guys i played with would blow your mind. 10 of them have already gone pro including the late josmer altidore (he really is incredible). so i in no way think that i am all that at all. i'm just completely honored that i was able to live and train with all those guys. So all of you who question about USC next year, know that i know my place and i'm going to work my butt off to help that gamecock team.

I have said all i want to really say and i've pretty much put it all out there guys. i'm sorry this is so long but i know people wanted to hear what i had to say. I will probably not post for a while because i rarely get on here but i just wanted to try and clear some things up. To end i would ask that you guys stop attacking G or the CAK program but if you still feel resentment say what you must toward me. Thanks your time and you might wanna take breaks during reading all of this haha.

Brandon, that was a great post and your loyalty to your coach speaks volumns. I have never seen you play as I am in Chattanooga....but you must be a very special soccer player. I have been somewhat surprised at the outrage by so many that have not been on the inside to know what all went into the decision. I am sure that the people that matter in the decision (the CAK family) took everything into consideration....and it sounds like it a very good one. For you to finish our your high school career where you should be. Beside your teammates and coach. Please remember that the majority of posters here were very supportive of Big G. Emotions just get the best of us all sometimes. Good luck to you.

I would totally agree with this statement. In some sad strange sort of way, we Coach T'ers are a form of family, and most all said some great things, which meant a great deal to me. Even most who disagreed with the decision weren't nasty, just honest and I can respect that. While there were a few that said things that I would not have said, this is to be expected in any sort of big decision. We are humans, and emotions easily surface, and even easier when a screen is sitting before us.

Asian, you know you mean the world to me, and what you said makes this old coach proud and quite tearful. I would go to battle for you anyday, and I didn't mind fighting this one for you as well. You are worth it to me.

On a side note, I promise not to tell anyone that your professional bowling career did not take off like you thought it would. That will be our little secret.

If it is all the same, most things have been said that can be said. I sure wouldn't mind moving on, but will leave it open for those who would like to state anything further.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
