Everyone is talking about DH and the county administration having the most to do with the athletics and the mass migration of coaches. Here is something to chew on, did it every occur to any one that the actuall school administration has something to do with it. Lets look at Indy for instance, 4 girls bball coaches in 4 year, 4 baseball caoches in 5 years, 2 football coaches in 5 years, a new soccer coach for girls and boys every other year. I know some of the people who have coached there as head coaches and assistants. THe one common thing said from all of them is the prinicpal is the hardest person to work for in all their stops. At Ravenwood, the prinicpal asked the coach to resign becuase she could not stand up to the parents.

If you want good coaches to stay, it is not always about the $$$. Most coaches in high school athletics look at other factors like the community and how close it is for their fmailies. A large majority of coaches want to coach where they are appreciated and supported by the administration of the school. If they feel they are not, then they leave to go to places that they are plaiun and simple. If a high school coach is in it for the $$$ they are in the wrong business no matter where they coach.

I agree it is the high school administration that has the most effect on coaching turnover. Dr. Webb at IHS is supportive of the athletics programs. You will find her at most all events both home and away. I cannot speak to her dynamics with the coaches and DH. The turnover at IHS and RHS may have something to do with them being the newest schools in the county. Growing pains if you will.

Would that be the reason why so many in WC? Where did all of these openings go? Are they still going to Coach somewhere or were there some bad fits? Or is this a result of a few years of the same as? This hasn't just started. It seems as if it has been going on for some time. Growing pains??? Other Counties has some of the same things but do not have this much. If schools have this much turnover, systemic is the major reason. No chance is there to build a program but maybe WC is not interested in doing that. They might only be interested in building the rest of the system which to a great degree they have done. Then, no need for a Web Site on athletics that they have which is a number1 product. Could it be most coaches reside outside of WC and found that travel and appreciation for their product did not work out. Could $$ be underestimated for the time spent? BHS does not seem to have the same problem but they are close to a County line yet INDY is on the other end of the County close to a County line also.

All could analyze this to death and the time is non productive. There are some very smart people that know what is the problem. Maybe they can find a solution.

I saw in the Tennessean Ravenwood has named Ron Brock as their new coach. Does anyone know if Indy has interviewed any candidates?

Currently on the Ravenwood faculty. Skinny about the previous coach's release had to do with some undermining from within. 1 + 1 = ?

Then..............maybe the policy is to hire some other teachers that have some coaching background and to fill in with them. If that seems to be the policy, all of the other situations could be filled from within. May not mean will develop a State Championship contender, except for Brentwood High School, but it is a policy someone could evaluate. After all BHS really carries the County athletically. The Web site does apply to BHS.

Education will always come first in WCS. Because this is true, it is curious why there isn't a stronger girls AAU program in the county, similiar to the Tennessee Pride out of Hooptown.

I put some information on Coach Brock in the Ravenwood post. He had been coaching at Sunset Middle during Williams time at Ravenwood and was not involved with the program during those years. I'm not sure if this 1+1 equation insinuates that he was part of the undermining...... not the case. He was not a part of Williams' staff.

Good to know, the girls deserve a fresh start.

An awful lot of people are wondering the same thing. It appears that the reason is there are no facilities available to have programs like HT> Mark Springer built his own gym in Nolansville and began to start a Club but it takes some fees to make it work. His facility was too far out in the boonies. To build something like that, with real estate values like they are would cost those participating quite a bit. Some talk about doing that though and it may show up soon. Rec Centers would be a great spot. Some of those who left WC have complained the lack of facilities for off season play. this is a major shortfall.
