TCA at Christian Co. Tournament

Trinity went up to KY to play against some of the best teams in the state yesterday. The currently ranked 2,3,4,9,10,11,16, and 20 ranked teams in KY were all there. After pool play was delayed until Saturday, Trinity won their pool, beating Muhlenburg North 8-0 and #10 Mercy Academy out of Louisville 2-0. They started out tournament play by beating #16 Allen Co.-Scottsville 8-0, then beat Calloway Co. 5-1. In the semi-finals, they played #4 and last years state champion Greenwood, beating them 1-0. The championship started around 12:00 am with Trinity going up against # 10 Mercy again. The girls played very well, but came out on the losing end, 2-1, at about 1:20 in the morning. Overall, it was a great day with them going 5-1, and I think Trinity showed how tough TN softball really is!

 

Also, Rossview represented TN well getting the overall # 1 seed in the tournament before losing to Mercy in the quarterfinals.

Congrats to TCA. This was a great tournament with some of the best teams in Kentucky. Rossview ended up with 3 wins and 1 loss. Rossview beat last year's single A Ky. State Champion Reidland 2-0, who is ranked #11 in Ky. and also beat Warren East 11 - 0. In tournament play Rossview beat a very good Apollo team 3 - 2 before losing to the eventual champion Louisville Mercy 2 - 1. We were hoping for an all Tennesse final but Mercy is a great team. Rossview beat Mercy last year in a close one, so this year Mercy got their revenge. Congrats to TCA again on getting to the finals.

I think a lot of us were expecting to see you guys there at the end. Mercy is a VERY fundamentally sound team. They will not beat themselves, so you have to really be on your game. I think Trinity is really starting to get into their groove.
