How do they fill the brackets for the state tournament is it a blind draw like basketball or do they fill them based on regions

In the past, it has been pre-determined. I remember one year I tried to talk Coach Powers into losing to Oakland on a Wednesday and travel to Chattanooga to take a chance on winning there just to make sure we got in a different bracket than Hendersonville, Farragut and Houston. We beat Oakland and won on Friday and we end up in Memphis with Hendersonville, Farragut and Houston - maybe 3 of the best teams the state has seen in the past 10 years or so....

I don't care what anyone says....that bracket with Farragut, Hendersonville, Riverdale and Houston is one of the best collection of four teams ever in the state tournament. There have been good teams make it since, but not many would have been able to play with those teams that year, that's for sure.

Farragut alone had 10 or so kids go on to play at the next level - Houston was loaded - Hendersonville may have been the best team there - and Riverdale fielded what was probably the best team they ever had - the top 6 hitters in their lineup went on to play D-1 baseball! So, at least 20-25 players on those 4 teams played after their high school

days were over - pretty amazing!

The second baseman for Riverdale that year (Wayne Kendrick) went on to set the all-time single-season hit record at MTSU and make the All-Sunbelt Conference team and Tournament team and the shortstop at Houston (best player I have ever seen in high school - Zach Miller) is now the starting second baseman at Ole Miss.

Do you know how the predetermined parings go? Do Regions 1 & 8 play?

In the past they had the region #'s posted on the brackets prior to the event. You knew in advance who was paired against who and where and what time. For some reason they don't this year - it may be because Oakland is a host site and they are waiting to see whether or not they make it?
