It is not going to help those of us that support jc. But let me ad that I don,t feel anything went on here but a young lady wanting to do the best she could while being envolved in high school athletics. Congradulations to her and Clarkrange. Everyone should support her right to attend the school of her choice. I have said before to those that do not like this, get envolved in your school, hire quality coaches, and let him or her run the athletics. Do like a small business, if the competition is doing better, then change your operation. Coaching, community envolvement, financial Support, cooperation with players and family and school. I feel for montery, but take this as a challenge to get better.

 

Its a funny thing to me that "us that support jc" about had a stroke a couple of years ago when one of their girls was being encouraged to transfer out of jc. I don't know who you are, and you may not know the inside scoop (although you might think that you do) but I can GUARENTEE you that your precious coach all but had a melt down when he thought one of the kids that he had worked with for years was being encouraged to move to another county. GET REAL!

This is a Girls Basketball thread on a sports site. There are transfers in 7A for a lot of reasons but not only 7A but Districts all over the state. Some are sports related and some are not. A lot have to do with curiculum. There have been some waivers in that regard, this poster is sure. Another thing, the school system does not want to hold back the needs of any student. Waivers, it is sure, can be attained for any reasonable reason. Athletics is the one area that presents problems but it appears that transfers, at times, could be done for reasons other than educational. " A" related schools have unique situations and they have to take care of their own situation. The most flagerant situations could be in AAA and while most of these posters are in A, AAA has not been touched and they have just as unique situation as A. IMO, the TSSAA except in some situations, have had a hands off situation in most of the cases. Maybe that is all right.

The main reason for the hands off has been students having some inclination to get in to better schools. It is very likely that the principals of schools have some input in to transfers. There may be some disagreements even there and between coaches. For all of this to be blamed on the TSSAA really is not fair. From the outside, reasonable transfers of students between schools are being allowed and as long as bussing and extra expense is not involved, it can be accomodated. In some cases there is an additional fee for doing so. The athletic situation in A schools is a camoflagued issue and really, IMO, a small pebble in a bucketful of rocks. The bigger and most significant issues are in larger Districts. In girls basketball, the transfers make more of a difference and a number of years ago, even those transfers did not make as much of a difference. At that time, girls basketball was not played at that point. Now it is and is important. Other girls sports will follow. Boys sports are now sitting back, likely more guilty than girls and breathing a sigh of relief at not being scrutinized more. This is the development of girls sports in the last few years.

The system will take care of itself. Transferring will be solved by good schools being built and good teachers teaching and good principals running the schools. It then will become obvious where the problems are. Until then finger pointing will exist. THERE IS NO REASON FOR COMPLAINTS IF SCHOOLS HAVE AN EXCELLENCE RATING and THE SCHOOLS ARE TOP NOTCH IN EVERY WAY. Every district in every classification has a way to go in that regard.

What does parents do in that case? Just what they are doing. Tolerate it and make it better or......not wait and find a better school. In a lot of communities that is very painful even in larger schools. There is a time even in those, that there will be a meeting of the minds to see what needs to be done and then the parents involved get really involved. Nothing wrong with parents demanding excellence. It's just a little more difficult in A division schools who do not have the resources the larger schools have.

been real a long time nobody wants to lose a good player or a good student, but if her family chooses to move then you go on and wish her well and our precious coach never accused anyone of recruiting and our boys program has lost 6-8 boys the past few years but I don't think they were recruited, if the whinners would put the effort in the programs with the kids and build a good program kids would be less likely to want to transfer and what school is going to turn down a student in fact they can't.
