Hasn't Lewisburg converted to football? I did not know they even had a baseball team anymore. I heard they gave baseball up. Any truth to that?

I hope you are being sarcastic.Yes we still have a baseball team. Coach George isan't going to let football in Marshall Co dominate his tradition with his program. But it does seem as if football is taking over in marshall co.Ever since the program has been turned around attendence has gradually dropped. We are lucky to get 10 fans(not counting parents)at our home games.Hopefully the baseball program will become as big and respectable as it used to be just a few years back. But it is football season so we should give them their time to shine.

No Marshall Co. still has a team, as good as any in the state, although we are going to be a young team. Most of us were on the 15 yr. old State championship team. MC will have a team to compete with every year.

Lewisburg has not converted to football. we are going to have a young team. But no matter what Coach George will always have a team to compete with.A lot of the Sophmores were on the 15 yr. old state championship team this year.

NO WAY!!I don't live in Lewisburg myself, but all of my family does, and i have a cousin who is a baseball player there. And as long as i can remember baseball is what MC is. That is what i look forward to whenever i go home to visit, is the games, and to be able to cheer on the team.

Jeffrey Lykins is a senior RHP and SS for Marshall County this year. He is about 6'1", 175 lbs. (rough estimate) I have no clue how his GPA is. He throws mid 80s consistently and can hit 88 or so every once in a while. His breaking stuff is just plain nasty. Many colleges will be looking at him this year, he has a chance to go D-1, but I don't know where he will end up.

    • Actually that young kid was in an offense that loved to throw the ball I believe.    Biggest problem for MC is if the coaching staff can figure out which mouths to feed at the appropriate time.
    • Have you ever been in education (administration) or a head coach? You’re responsible for all aspects of your program. If you were not checking the kids information correctly and left it up to someone else and they mess up. You’re held liable because it’s a failure on supervision, implementation of TSSAA eligibility and your school’s eligibility. Remember the wording in the article for him “CONTRACT NOT RENEWED” coaches are on a year to year contract and don’t sign the contract again until July. Do I believe he still should’ve been let go? Yes because you’re responsible for the total program and should be aware of everything going on. Do I believe he knew about the grade changes? No and that’s because nobody brought his name up until things got really bad and there is no indication with any paperwork showing he did. It’s just word of mouth from a teacher trying to cover herself.
    • TSSAA won't ever issue a death penalty, worst case scenario would be a post-season penalty that makes Clinton ineligible for the playoffs for a year or two (I believe 3 years is the most I have ever seen).  But TSSAA only does that in extremely rare circumstances.
    • I just want to echo that sentiment. Coach Woodmore is a good man and he is going to do things the right way and expect these kids to do things the right way. He will help grow them into fine young men. The wins will follow. I think Bolivar hit a home run.
